well, naturally Candida is a yeast that is kept in control by the body, so I don't believe that one should just treat Candida, or go on any special anti-candida diets, because obviously if it is a problem, then something else is wrong that caused the yeast/candida overgrowth in the first place. but once established, candida actually is a yeast that plants its tentacles or roots into the intestinal wall and produces toxins that constantly tire the body so yeah it can be a factor.

I believe that my eye comfort is very much related to my acid/alkaline balance. Most of us are overly acidic which can lead to yeast and candida problems (among other things). Acidity will kill off good bacteria just as antibiotics will.

A simple pH test will let you know how acidic you are. I use litmus strips to test urine or saliva.

Kefir, either store bought or made at home, is an excellent source of many strains of good bacteria. It has more good bacteria strains than yogurt although I like yogurt and buy it often also. Lifeway Kefir is available in many grocery stores in a variety of flavors.

        Rhad,

do you think you could list the things that you have done to get your eyes in the improved condition they are now ?

I get all the symptoms exactly as you described them - interestingly I noticed you also get the 'brain fog' - I don't know of anyone else on this site who gets that, it's hard to describe but it's like a visual manifestation of dry eye pain. I get that when my dry eye is particularly bad.

I've been doing minocycline , compresses, scrubs, Patanol, steroid drops, etc... my eyes go from really good one week to shocking the next, and I don't really do anything to bring on this change, so it's frustratingly hard figuring out what is helping and what is not.

        Thanks for any help buddy

also related to this topic i've had a pretty severe back acne problem for the last 4/5 years - exactly the time i've had dry eye - which just won't go away. antibiotics will clear it a bit but it just comes right back when i stop them. doctors can't figure it out and have basically given up on trying to fix it for me, just saying i have to live with it .

it must be related to the dry eye.

Arceon, acne is related to Bowel and liver functions. in order to get rid of acne for good certain protocols must be done. I am going to write a new thread on what I have found has actually helped me, and that will most likely help all of you...

I feel that my eyes could be related to my acid / alkaline balance too as i have a lot of symptoms related to candida. I need to test it though. Where can you get the litmus strips?

                      Hormone issue

Arcaeon, That is usually a hormonal issue. I don't know if you are male or female. If you are female, you may want to consider going on birth control pills. If you are male, discuss some sort of hormone treatment with your doctor. Dry eyes and back acne are both very strongly hormonally related and if you got them both at the same time, that sounds like the culprit.

                        acid/alkaline balance

What does one do for an acid/alkaline imbalance?

I take Alka-Seltzer Gold a lot and it does help - anything else I should be doing?

Also, I'm taking doxy and it does seem to help. I take 1/2 the dose at a time, otherwise I get upset stomach and very sleepy. I will look for a good probiotic.

                        Thanks for the advice!
