  • Topical Use of Fatty Acids

    http://archopht.ama-assn.org/cgi/con...urcetype=HWCIT

Above is a link to the Archives of Opthalmology article about topical treatment of dry eye with omega-3 and omega-6. We've heard plenty about ingesting these fatty acids, but they are experimenting with drops.

Do you reckon you could use normal fish oils for drops? or would that not be sterile?

fish or flax oil on eyelids

Or maybe just rub a bit of fish oil or flax oil onto the eyelids?

        The study sounds promising!

The study looks interesting and I don't want to seem like I am over reacting but I would like to reiterate my stance on this kind of thread:

BEFORE you try an alternative treatment or deviate from your supervised medical plan, CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR first.

Is that a question Kim? If it is, it is best directed to your doctor.

The thought of inserting some foreign body into my eye unsupervised does nothing but run shivers down my spine not only as an individual sufferer but also as a moderator.
