  • botox improving dry eyes

This is from someone on HealthBoards.com. I was just wondering if anyone on this forum has heard of this or has tried it???

I'd been suffering from chronic dry eyes for 2+ years. I'd tried numerous lubricant eyedrops, as well as Restassis. These helped some, but nothing gave me lasting relief. Last September, for obvious reasons of vanity, I decided to try Botox for the first time, in the forehead region. Ironically enough, within 2 weeks, my dry eye syndrome and eye strain subsided dramatically, to the point that I rarely need eyedrops, if ever. Was I surprised!!!! and relieved!!! My only guess is that, due to the forehead muscles relaxing, my eyes muscles and lids have relaxed too and are thus able to stay more lubricated..... I really don't know why...., but I wanted to pass this on to whoever has tried anything and everything and are desperate..... Botox has been used to treat various ailments. I'm not sure why eye doctors have never suggested this as a possible treatment. I feel like I stumbled upon it..... I mentioned this to my dermatolgist, who administered the Botox, and he wasn't surprised at all that it gave me dry eye relief. Hope this might help, as odd as it might sound.
