  • List of Probing Doctors

    All,

In case you weren't aware, the company that manufactures the ****** probes has recently decided to stop giving out information about which doctors have probes. This makes it significantly more difficult to find a doctor who does it.

I've started compiling a list of doctors in the U.S. and Canada who can do probing. I have called each of their offices personally to confirm that they do the procedure.

I'd like more doctors from anywhere in the world to be added to this list, but I need help from other people on this board. If you know of a doctor who does probing that is NOT on this list (and you've called them personally to confirm they do probing, or have had probing done from them recently), please reply to this thread with the following information:
    1. Doctor's First and Last Name
    2. Doctor's Clinic
    3. Doctor's Country
    4. Doctor's City and State (or province, or territory, etc)
Please also post if a doctor on this list does not do probing anymore.

I hope this list will be a powerful resource for those who want to do probing in the future.

I called a doctor yesterday who was in Ontario, but I didn't get a confirmation of whether he did it or not. I'll update it on Monday when I followup with his office.

        Hi pythonidler

Thanks so much for your dedication.
curious to know the PURPOSE of such NEW policy. Data protection?

Is it not a WIN-WIN if patients can easily find probing doctors and
the company + doctors generate more business??

I encountered such problems for Osmolarity tests, BlephEx and Keratograph 5M - the agents and the company are not helpful -
refused to provide nor such info is not available - very frustrating!! LipiFlow is great in this regard.

That was exactly my point to the person I spoke with. Let's hope they change their policy at some point.

My lipiflow dr in Canada does't even know about the probing procedure. What's going on with Canadian doctors.

Before I had probing I contacted Dr. ****** and asked who does this in New England. I assumed he knows because all the needed equipment is purchased from a company near him in Florida, maybe owned by him. He answered me saying it would be best for me to see him in Florida. Is he trying to keep all the business for himself?

That is speculation, however ****** is known to charge extremely high fees. For example, probing in Toronto/Canada can be done for less than $200.

The closest to you is probably Dr Periman in Seattle, but it is her last resort. Since IPL is helping, you are probably not interested anymore but just so that you know.

Since I made that comment I found out that Dr Al Gouhl at Seema Eye Center in Calgary, Alberta does do probing but won't do it unless absolutely necessary, also a last resort thing.

Pedram Hamrah did my probing four years ago and it changed my life. I still see him yearly, just for a check up, and last time I asked why it's so difficult to find a doctor who does this. He's a professor at Tufts and he said that it'll change because opth students now learn it. So if you're looking for a doc who does this, it might be easier to find someone young, a recent graduate.
