this could help me, although my glands arent obviously blocked, by the description of blood vessels and tissue overgrowth deeper.. that's possible because my MGD is deffo ocular rosacea/ blood vessel related

I have contacted an (dry eye specialised) Optometrist in my vicinity. He was thrilled by the invention and has ordered the device from Dr. ******. I will undergo this procedure in a few weeks and post an update...

Here is an interesting quote from his response:

"The technique is easy and less and less invasive than unblocking an occluded tear duct, which I do routinely.At last - tools for manually unblocking them. Fed up of expressing them."

Just want to post a link to an interesting article. It is about a potential new technique to physically unclog meibomian glands.

Dr. ****** in Tampa, Fl. performed this procedure to umplug my very plugged meibomian glands. He uses an instrument that he developed especially for unclogging meibomian glands. He also injected the unplugged glands with a medication( a steriod I think). Almost instantly my eyes felt better. I can't begin to tell you what a change this has made to my eyes and my life. Dr. ****** is a genius in his field and specializes in dry eyes and eye surface problems. He has helped me more than any of the many of Drs. that I have seen over the past six years. I hope more opthalomolgist across the country will learn to perfrom this pricedure. I don't think most Drs. really understand how to treat dry eyes and MGD. It is not a cheap procedure ,but if you can be persistant with your insurance company, you can get it covered, because Dr. ****** is an out-of -network provider for most insurance companies.
I could stand on soapbox all day and rave over Dr. ****** and his expertise .

I got an appointment for MG probing on 23th March by Prof. Geerling in Germany. I'll post here when the procedure is done.

I have one question to all non-Germans here: Does your insurance company pay for MG probing? Prof. Geerling told me that I have to pay 270 Euro for MG probing and the insurance doesn't pay anything of this amount:-/
Thats so frustrating because I've already spent 1000 Euro for (at the moment) not successful scleral lenses and soon I have to spent lots of money for my moisture chamber googles (MEGS) with high prescription:-/ the German insurance companys nearly pay for nothing :-(

I live in the UK and have had private health insurance in the past.

Costs relating to my eye problems were excluded from the policy because they were pre-existing medical conditions.

I hope IPL goes well for you; it's not something that has reached our shores yet!
