For those who are new to bulletin boards and/or just haven't thought about this: We strongly recommend that you do not use your full name when registering on Dry Eye Talk.
Why?
Anything you post here will eventually get archived by the "search engines". That means that someday, anybody who "googles" your name may find things you wrote here, and to the extent you've shared private medical information or opinions, that could be inconvenient. If you have a very common name (John Smith) you may think that's no big deal, however, if you also allow public access to your email address in your profile, it can still be connected to you.
Suggestion: If your first name is already "taken" and you really want to use your name rather than the name of your dog or your Yahoo moniker or whatever, opt for a variation like:
johns
JohnSmith1
John_S
John Sm
etc.
Too late? If you want to change your username, email me or webmaster.
