I have had a negative response to steroid eyedrops. Specifically FML. My response was systemic...I was shaking, my limbs were weak and I felt , for lack of a better description, very nervous. My response was immediate but hit a crescendo after 24 hours and 3 doses so I stopped using the drops and contacted my OD. My reaction to the steroid drops is not common but it was the pits.
I asked my OD (and DrG) about my reaction and he told me that "medications taken in the eye are rapidly absorbed by the nasal mucosa and can enter the bloodstream as if they were injected". Which, because I am apparently susceptible, would explain my immediate bad reaction.
