Do medications cause actual eye pain or just dryness?

I have always wondered if medications like antihistamines, antidepressants, sleeping pills, etc cause actual eye pain or if they just cause dryness (which leads to pain)? Can a medication actually cause your eye to hurt or just decrease your tear production?
Does anyone have any knowledge or ideas on this?
