I had LASIKS in 2007. I had the normal dryness, which gradually went away. Every once in a while I would need eyedrops, usually just upon waking in the morning or if it was a really windy, dry day. In 2009 I began having a foreign body sensation in my eye. I went to the optometrist and he told me I had dry eyes and to keep using eyedrops. Fast forward to about 6 months ago. I was at work and my eyes went completely dry. After visiting 5 different doctors I finally got diagnosed with MGD/posterior blepharitis. My question is, does LASIKS lead to MGD/posterior blepharitis or was this a pre-existing condition I already had? All of the doctors I've been to don't believe the two are connected, but they all promote LASIKS and I wonder if they are biased. I should add this past year has been very stressful and I've been studying quite a bit with and intense intership (which I almost had to give up because of the pain), accompanied by poor eating habits, lack of sleep, and too much coffee.
And as a side note, thank you all. I'm sorry you are suffering, but this website has been a blessing. I don't know how I would have made it through some days without being able to read inspirational stories and being able to get the products I need for my dry eyes.
