    Hi Tankie,

What would ICU stand for please . . . I'm guessing tear film thickness? Thank you so much for sharing your photos. I am thinking of having the lipiview done in Toronto.

Did the doctor have useful recommendations for you?

      Hey Tankie,

I'm happy to see you're up and on the computer! But I'm so sorry to see that your lipid layer thickness scores are so low. As you know, I heard that <50nm is severe and >75 is normal. We need to get on Health Canada to cover treatment with LipiFlow ASAP.

      Wishing you a speedy recovery,
      Sheila

The output is expressed in Interference Color Units (ICUs) which correlate with Lipid Layer Thickness (LLT) (FYI I got that from googling "lipid layer ICU").

It is NOT a measure for tear film thickness. It is a measure of lipid (oil) layer thickness. In other words, it's used to quantify meibomian gland function/dysfunction.
