  • PTK and Corneal Erosion / Update

I remember reading a while back that PTK is 90% effective the first time it's done and then for those that it fails if they do it again it is 90% effective on them bringing the efficacy to 99%. Anyways, I also remember reading that sometimes it fails when the doc does not scrap the entire epithelium.

I did PTK for the second time about a month ago and I'm 25 days free of erosions so far.

When I read about PTK a few years back I seem to recall a large variation in reported efficacy.

I'm so glad its worked for you though Mike.

      All the best!

PTK is suppose to have a very high efficacy. The problem is when the doc does not scrape the entire epithelium when doing the PTK. He scraped a lot more the second time he did the PTK and so far I'm 38 days free from erosions and feel great.
