experience with surgery for RCE?

Well, I had the strombal puncture done today. Took the doctor only about 1 minute, put about 20 holes in my eye. Didn't hurt at the time, but when I got home, felt like glass in my eye!! OMG! Putting Muro ointment in helps and just keeping my eye shut now. He said it will hurt for a couple of days, and then it should start feeling better. I sure hope this works. Right now it feels like a horrible erosion. I asked the doctor about superficial keratectomy, but found out that is just scraping the eye, and I had that done at the same time they did the PTK surgery 1-1/2 years ago. So I'm praying this will end my erosions and so is the doctor. He really seems concerned and like he wants to help me get rid of this. So I'll keep you posted....

I had the same procedure done, but i asked him for a bandage contact to ease the pain, its basically an on/off pain switch for me. Without the contact i would be totally screwed. I had my contact on for almost 4 months after the puncture.

Strombal Puncture

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. Yeah, the pain was unbearable for exactly 3 days after I had it done. On the third day I opened my eye and NO PAIN! Amazing how it went away just overnight. Anyhow, it's been over 2 weeks now and it's been fine, just put Muro 128 drops in 4X a day and Muro 128 ointment at night. Can I ask you when you had yours done and if it has worked for you. I'm still scared I'm going to wake up one day and have another erosion. I'm hoping not, but after years of it, I'm still scared. Thanks Mike!!
