I just wanted to respond to this, as this isnt the case for every one.

I beleive if the dry eye came about due to things in your environment, like diet, allergies etc.. if you eat healthy, avoid the allergies you can get better. But it is not as simple as this for alot of dry eye. There is physical changes to the eyelids, eye surface which creates inflammation that is chronic. And taking care of yourself is not going to resolve this. I am otherwise healthy, ive been eating healthy for a while now, ive avoided all sorts of foods, had allergy tests, been away from the computer (i rarely used the computer when all this began), tried to provide my eyes with moist environment, but non of it made a difference because theres been some damage to my eyelids in some form i am sure of. I believe certain unnatural interventions did damage such as contacts and antidepressants.

I have not met a single person with bad dry eye (episodic maybe), despite people who eat awfully and are really unhealthy.

I know this approach works for some people, as you state it has worked for you which is great, i wish this was the case for all of us. Whilst it does give hope to those new to dry eye, that it could get better through diet, supplements, exercise. For many of us it doesnt. Im still hoping theres something in my diet that i can avoid, but i know im clutching at straws now.

I agree with Sazy for the most part. I think that TD2007's comment is really very insightful as regards many of the most common - and particularly the mild - cases of dry eye from bleph, MGD and so on. Many factors in these conditions are directly related to diet, lifestyle and environment (though to be fair not all these factors can be easily controlled by making decisions about it... not everyone can change jobs, move, stop using computers etc to keep their eyes healthy).

But the concept cannot be generalized across "dry eye" in general. There are a host of dry eye causes that cannot be altered at the root by any amount or sort of behavioural or environmental change. There are also cases of arguably preventable dry eye that have escalated to a point where complete reversal is not a reasonable goal. That's not to say though that most or all of these people cannot get dramatic improvement. We've seen that here time and again.
