The First for Women magazine on stands now - the July 9, 2007 issue - has a quick blurb about fennel seeds for dry eye. I haven't tried it but it caught my eye because I have four books that I frequently reference by Dr. Jame F. Balch, the contributor of the tip. I wish I could just give a link or copy and paste the info but it's not on the web that I could find. So I'll type it as it appears in the magazine, please forgive my poor typing.
" The ozone gas formed by air pollution and heat affects eye tissue, causing a dry, tired feeling. The fix: fennel. "Anti-inflammatories like camphor and bergapten in this spice ease tissue irritation," says James F. Balch, M.D., coauthor of Prescription for Natural Cures (Wiley, 2004). Simply pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 tsp. fennel seeds. Steep 20 minutes; strain and cool. Soak a cloth in the tea; apply to closed eyes for 5 minutes daily."
I haven't tried this yet but probably will because stuff like this is right up my alley .
