I am currently a few weeks away from seeing a new ophthalmologist. I was diagnosed with blepharitis from a specialist who specializes in eye disorders. He never specified what kind it was and I never asked. My old ophthalmologist also said this just that i have bleph, nothing about mgd.
I think it was dermatitis kind, since they only told me to do lid scrub and prescribed antibiotic ointment to scrub my lashes with.
Anyway while I was waiting to see an ophthalmologist my family doctor suggested i try doxy for 3 months. I was up for it, i figured it wouldnt hurt.
I did one run for a month at 100mg after 3 weeks i noticed after taking it my eyes became inflamed. I also have slight mucus discharge occasionally which I read is from the oil layer and mucus layer of our tears touching due to low production of water.
I stopped taking it, and my eyes did not get better but they stopped being as terrible as on the doxy. I decided to give it one more go and started again, 2 weeks my eyes felt good, and now every time i take it the same issue.
Has anyone experienced this, my doctor wants me to stick with it, as he claims like many others it takes about 3 months for results. But it keeps making my eyes inflamed and gooey (only word i can think to describe it), with unusual amounts of mucus discharge.
I am just curious if others noticed this, and seen improvement? Or is it simply not right for me.
