Just wanted to post about my experiences regarding long term use of doxycycline in case anyone is considering this treatment. I was on doxy for approximately a year and a half. While I do think it helped my eyes, the last five months I experienced hypersensitivity - my skin was extremely dry and sensitive from the chest up and my face and neck were constantly red. I have been off doxy for about two weeks now and am finally starting to feel normal. I would not recommend long term use of doxycycline, but then again, everyone is different.

I was on it for 3 months, and did notice some rashes here and there -but nothing major. I'm wondering also if by some chance it could have contributed to the floaters I got (3 months after lasik). I dunno.......it was fine for me, and think it did help.
From what I understand docs like to take patients on and off it periodically.
