  • Is there anything left to do? (while i wait for my appointments)

I have appointments to see an ophthalmologist as well as an optometrist who specializes in dry eyes in the next few weeks. I've been to numerous family doctors and optometrists who take a quick look, tell me to try a couple of things and report back to them in a month's time. And the waiting time's always the hardest, especially if their suggestions don't help.

So in order to maximize the appointments that I have coming up, I thought I'd list what I've done since my dry eyes began, and if there's a home remedy/something over the counter that I've missed perhaps you could let me know . I guess I'm hoping to turn a simple consultation (which is usually what these initial appointments are) into something meaningful.

    Drops
    - started with Genteal drops/ointment & Systane Ultra --> once I found out that they used preservatives, I switched to Theratears & Refresh Celluvisc (a combination of these (2 drops TT, 1 drop RC) is working the best for me)
    - Refresh Endura - caused severe irritation

    Prescriptions
    - prescribed an anti-histamine drop (Patanol 0.1%) - which didn't so anything, good or bad.
    - prescribed Tobradex ointment (cortisone/antibiotic) - caused a weird sore/hematoma in my left eye. This might have been due to the preservative (BAK)

    Tests
    - allergy test - not allergic to anything
    - blood test - normal

    Supplements
    - Omega 3/Fish oil pills
    - Vitamin D
    - multivitamin
    - astaxanthin
    - flax seeds

Lid care (I was diagnosed with blepharitis
    - lid cleanser
    - hot compresses 3x/day
    - massaging around the eyes (I'm pretty sure I have MGD)

    Other
    - humidifier
    - hardly on computer/watch tv anymore
    - conscious blinking
    - no makeup since December
    - moisture chamber sunglasses (7 eye)
    - stopped drinking alcohol (not that I drank much to begin with)
    - using a scent free detergent

    Am i missing anything?

I realize this is super long & I appreciate any help you might have

ask your doctor about these .... you may ask online .
justanswer com or proctoraid com .latter is cheaper and friendlier.

Thanks for the suggestions. These are all things I want to discuss with the specialists during my appointments. Right now, I'm more interested in non-prescription things I can try out, so when the ophthalmologist says have you done x, I can tell him yes, I have and whether it's worked or not.
