I woke up with dry eyes the day after the North American solar eclipse in August 2017. I irresponsibly risked looked at the eclipse without protective eyeware and have been suffering the consequence since. My eyes are smaller, more sunken into my socket and completely dry. I use castor oil, eye drops and omega 3 pills daily for treatment which provides comfort and relief. However, the most negative impact of mgd is that i no longer sleep more than 4-5 hours. My body never feels rested when i wake. I also have high blood pressure and high heart rate which i believe is related to sleep deprivation for the past 7 months. Im 25 years old and i was so healthy prior to this eye condition. I feel annoyed and frustrated. I plan to see my doctor soon to help with my sleeping habits. It’s been tough not being able to sleep when i used to always sleep 8 hours and nap whenever. I cant even force my body to rest. Its just overworking itself. Other side effect are dry skin and when i cry i dont look like i cried. Crying used to feel like a release and not it just feels like waterworks that dry up instantly without evidence of a flushed face. It sucks. Please give advice. Does melatonin work?

The eye exams i took months ago showed that my eyes were healthy and normal but dry. Im going to see my optemetrist again. How have you been dealing with MGD? The lack of meibum is definitely the reason my eyes feel dry and uncomfortable. Lack of adequate lubrication prevents deep sleep. What do you do for your MGD? Should i try another remedy?
