MGD casued by medication mess up!

I am trying to find the article right now. It was from three drs who said that when ointments and gels are prescribed wrong it casues long term damage to your glands and clogs them!
And I saw on the part here with the questions to the Dr that he stated that use of ointments at night can casue long term damage to your glands. That is what happened to me I feel. I used it for 14 days!!! Once at night and I didnt know to clean it off ect. I just showerd, ect. I think it coated my eyes and clogged them all up.

This is what I also saw from the DR on here.
An antibiotic ."ointment" will clog up the glands.. That is what my problem is. I now have clogged glands due to this? I am not sure if this is permanet?

14 days is not long term.

Long term is like when people with chronic dry eye use ointments every night for months or years, or when people with glaucoma use BAK-preserved meds for years.

I understand that you are very concerned and frightened about the potential for this having caused you permanent harm. Personally, it sounds extremely unlikely to me based on everything you've described.

Thank you for your advice!! I am very scared.
They gave me an ointment and I used it at night, and I didn't know you had to clean it , ect. I just showered and that was how I wiped it.
They thought I had bacterail conjuct.
In the end I didnt, and they just wanted to be safe. Well I saw an eye dr and they said I had clogged oil glands. I am assuming due to this.
They said to do warm compresses. I have tried and I am not getting relief.
Now they said take restatis. I am very scared that if I don't get these un-clogged they will be damaged???
What do you think?
I dont have feelings of dry eyes. My right eye is just sore all the time.
They said I have loss of tear film on the right eye. Left is only mid. I had more ointment in the right??

Surely if ointments clog up your meibomian glands they will be cleared the next time you do a warm compress? MGD is when the glands are creating a too thick substance - this will repeatedly fail to coat the eye and congeal at the gland's pores.

I dont think they can clear overnight. I used it alot and I have bene doing warm compresses and it hasnt cleared. All I know is they said when they pressed on my gland oil came out.

See all that stuff clogged my glands, therefore, it is all thick now and cannot come out. They said I have a loss of tear film on the right eye, and clogged oil glands. I read using ointmnet at night, causes long term damage to your glands.

This condition is really confusing (and upsetting) at first because all doctors have different ways of explaining it to their patients. Maybe you misinterpreted what the doctor said or maybe not. If your glands are actually "glogged" with something, then hot compresses and expressing the glands should do the trick. Otherwise, you may have to look at other solutions. Regardless, you should continue with the hot compresses and lid cleansing (at minimum) and schedule an appointment to see a specialist (ophthamologist - cornea specialist) immediately.

I course of doxycillen may thin the meibum and also reduce inflamation

Is it common to have a sore eye with MGD?
My eye is always sore. I am not clear in what is going on either. I just think that stuff clogged me up good.

Do you know if there is such a thing as this product could have ruined my eye producing glands for good.
I was told to use it at night and I did this and then my eyes got really irritated and felt dry.
Floxal ointment: ofloxacin (active substance), viscous paraffin, wool fat, white vaseline.
I am worried I used to much and maybe that did this? I don't know?
