What about Sterilid? It also contains TTO. I like it. I am out of it right now and eyes are much worse. Although could be for other reasons, but I have to order it from the UK.

Ok I think I will try the mixture of TTO and Walnut oil and rub it on my lids. 1 more question. TTO is very expensive so is it enough just to buy a little bottle of 10ml? How much do I need for the eyes?

UPDATE: I just bought 10 ml of TTO and 250 ml of walnut oil. I put 1 tbsp walnut oil in a cup and added approximately 12-25 drops of TTO. Then I mixed the cup a little bit, and then used my fingers to rub it on my closed eye for about 3 mins. Then I laid down for a couple of minutes. Afterwards I rinsed the still closed eye with cold and hot water. After opening the eye it stung a bit and my eye got a bit red, but it seems to be ok. Was that the right way to do it?
If it worked I can't tell yet, probably have to do it a couple more times to see improvement.

        Thanks
        Bojan

            LaDiva,

Can demodex also cause clogged eyelids, shedding of lashes? two of my main problems are clogging of eyelids and losing of lashes, and the lashes that falls out are curly and a bit discolored. I've been losing a lot lately and it's been a living nightmare for me. I've been to four doctors and one optho and no one has been able to help me, all useless doctorate degrees, they all just tell you the typical warm compress and massage that hardly does anything really. My problem started less than two months after PRK, it was the biggest mistake of my entire life to trust these so-called doctors. I've tried everything and spent a fortune. I just bought Tea tree oil shampoo and will start to use it. What do you think the symptoms of having demodex? Also, have any of you guys have tried manuka honey drops like optimel from australia? I've heared great reviews.

              Hi Vinnie,
Demodex live in oil (sebum) and at the base of eyelashes and hair folicles. They can and do make your eyelashes fall out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demodex

Be careful with TTO. I've read that some eye practitioners mix 50% TTO with Macadamia Nut oil. If you swallow TTO, it is highly toxic. (A boy drank a small amount once and ended up in a coma, but survived.) If you have Demodex, the most effective although not comfortable solution is Tea Tree Oil. (See links below.) My symptoms were foreign body sensation, inflammation, mucous, dryness and lack of meibum. Earlier in my dry eye (three of four years ago), I had eyelash loss and lots of crusting around the lashes, but that improved with eyelid hygiene. I have been diagnosed with ocular rosacea, tear deficiency and meibomian gland dysfunction, but am absolutely certain I have Demodex for a number of reasons. Not only are they in my eyes, they have been on my face and in my hair as well. I am feeling very much better and hoping for even further improvement as the mites die off. Best wishes to you Vinnie. Hope you find some relief.

This study has a good list of symptoms: http://paojournal.com/xml/pjo2012_vo...%20Demodex.pdf

Ladiva, has the number of tears needed decreased? Also have redness of the sclera?

I feel the same way. I hope it gets better though when the mites die off. I hope this is my problem.. But I'm not holding my breathe.

I'm happy for you let us know if it continues

UPDATE: after using it for a few days, I didn´t really see big improvement, beside red eyes. I guess mites are not my problem, but to make sure I´m going tomorrow to an eye doctor and ask him if he can find those mites on my lids. Or is there a special doctor needed who is able to see/find mites?

@Vinnieblanco: I´ve tried Manuka honey from Australia, and put it straigt in my eyes, but it stung. Then I made a solution with water and put it in a dropper and used it a couple of times. I can really say it made my eyes feel better, but the problem was that the honey dries out after a while and then it burns a bit, until you rinse it off. This was my experience, it doesn´t mean that it won´t work for you

Sorry this did not work for you bojan. Maybe the doctor can come up with more information for you.

Thank you LaDiva and Bojan89. On my next appoitnment with my optho, I'll ask her if she can find out if I have demodex. From what I've read online, you can use a microscope and look at a lash that fell out your lids and you can see if you have traces of mites at the root of the lash. Kind of horrifying if you do that yourself and see something moving there. If demodex is my problem, I guess it can be fixed somehow or it can go away down the road. I know some form of blepharitis will haunt you forever. I'm praying and very hopeful that what I have is curable or something that will die out in time. I've also read somewhere that blepharitis do die after years of having it. I hope that could be true someday.

I've been using Cliradex Wipes for six weeks tomorrow, and as an update, my eyes feel much better. Not completely well, but better. I am also using less eyedrops. Yesterday I used one vial, and am using goggles part time as opposed to full time. I am not well, but better, and thinking about having one punctal plug removed because of over-tearing. Some days are better than others, but they are all better than they were. Onward and upward.
