    IPL for dry eyes

PS, yes my eyes were much redder after the lasik, and it is getting better with these IPL treatments.... so is my vision! Dry eye takes a toll on how clearly we see, and i can see a definite improvement in that regard as well. 2 down, probably 4 to go since he said mine was on the severe side. The 2nd treatment was more pleasant than the first......and will continue to be better with each treatment that I undergo. Current cost for each treatment $375 in 3/10 plus some RX drops...needed after the first treatment, as needed after that.

Dry eye is getting better with each treatment........yea!

Pessoas que fizeram o tratamento IPL

Hey, do not stop the update with the improvement of their eyes!
I wish some of the patients who continued to post your story ... So we know if the IPL is really efficient ...
Some people I would like to know how are: GRETCHEN; SAZY123; ABERCROMBIE003; BEATLES116
I do not know if these people stopped posting in the forum (hope not) ...

I've tried everything and nothing solves my eyes dry, but it seems that the IPL has been working ... Too bad that here in my country there is no shadow of someone who knows how to treat dry eye properly ...

REBECCA (if you read this post): I do not know what you think ... but it would be an interesting topic with the reports of whom underwent IPL treatment? I saw that it is efficient, but still doubt pra what type of dry eye that is efficient. Perhaps the stories with the descriptions help me and others who are interested.

This is a great topic. Although, this discussion does not seem to be updated anymore. I live in Los Angeles and I would like to visit Assil Eye Institute if there are good results. Please keep this discussion going.

david13_us, we have another discussion topic with the IPL. We have several new posts in it. This is the link of it ...

            http://www.dryeyezone.com/talk/showthread.php?t=11171

What is the cause of dry eye?
If you visit Dr. Assil, I REALLY need your help to collect some information about the machine and the settings he uses.

I will submit myself to the IPL here in Brazil and need to know what the proper configuration of the machine, but it is hard to find this information ...

In another topic that you're spent discussing the IPL and we have some people who are in the midst of treatment as well.

Good luck on your journey and I count on your help.

I have seen Dr. Assil and had 5 treatments so far. IPL works if you have dysfunction of the oil producing glands. Mine were at 30% and now went up to about 55%, which makes a big difference. It's not necessarily a miracle cure, but the improvement is significant.

For those of you who do not live near LA or a place where IPL is done, consider that IPL treatment is ongoing even after the initial "boost" (every three to six months).

I should add that this is the only thing that's ever worked for me, and I've tried so many things already.

                  Hey liljae8.

I am also somewhat new to this forum, but try to read every day and always gather more information. Let me say what I think.

I believe that before you attempt treatment with IPL, which you must diagnose the cause of your dry eye. According to what I've read, the IPL help only if you have MGD (meibomian gland dysfunction). They are responsible for producing the oil that gives "quality" to his tears, not letting them evaporate as easily.

It took seven months to diagnose what really hurt my eye.
Try reading the entire main site, there are good tips there.

Try to get at the root of your problem before trying any treatment.

I saw IPL on the news last night -at least dry eye is getting on the news now..
They showed the doctor doing the treatment but only on the lower eyelid.

Has anyone on here had IPL for their upper eyelids? That is where most of my glands that get clogged. I have had the probing done 3x. It seems to help for about a month or so.
                    thanks
                    Jenny

Assil does IPL on both the lower and upper eyelids.

                        IPL on eyelids?

How do you protect the eyes balls when you do the upper eye lids?

Your eyes will be covered during the whole procedure. IPL is not done directly on the lids but slightly above and below the upper and lower eyelids. It's slightly painful but very quick and doesn't seem dangerous at all.

For the upper lids... when you say slightly above them... do you mean they do the IPL just below the eyebrow? Or do they only do it above the eyebrow?

Thanks Andre. I will provide you with an update for my visit with Dr. Assil.

I do not completely understand why I have dry eyes. I have visited my Ophthalmologist many times, but never got a definite answer. Maybe it is time for a second opinion. However, I do remember my Ophthalmologist saying that my glands are clogged and they are not producing quality tears. As Rick mentioned, "dysfunction of the oil producing glands."

I have mentioned IPL to my Ophthalmologist, but she does not recommend this procedure because it is very new and she has not heard of IPL. However, since there are so many success stories, I am thinking about visiting Assil Eye Institiue. I am worried about how much these treatments will cost.

I am relatively new to this forum. I have been reading the updates, but just started posting myself. I would like to post my story, but I am not sure if this is the right place....

I have been suffering from dry eyes for 3 years now. I have been wearing contacts for 6 years, but just starting to wear glasses again since my diagnosis. My eyes have their good days and bad days, more bad days. I have started to take fish oil, wash my lids with Ocusoft, and one drop of refresh every morning. With all this, I have notice slight improvements, but not enough to live happily. I've spent too much money and trying anything possible to make my eyes feel comfortable. My eyes are still red from the inflammation (which I am hoping to get rid of with IPL but not sure if this will fix it). I am also hoping that with IPL, I may begin to wear contacts again since I hate my glasses (I do know that this is a long shot).

I know that many individuals suffer from dry eyes after Lasik, but at least those individuals have better vision (This is only my thought, I am not confident with this assumption). Many of us without Lasik that have dry eyes are still having to wear glasses without the possibility of have the Lasik procedure done since there are higher risks and complications for us.

I'd like to thank everyone for all their updates, it has definitely been a pleasure reading everyone's success stories. I have gain so much information about dry eyes. Since most of my family and close friends do not know about dry eyes, it has been great knowing that I can talk to people with the same issues. With the dry eye zone, I feel like I have a second family. Shout out to Rebecca for doing such a great job! She has helped me previously with questions.

                                David

Thanks for the update. And really comforting when we find a place like this. All users are very helpful to me when I need them.

This issue of the IPL is very complicated. I was very excited when I read many success stories in the forum. But now I'm more cautious. I do not know how far it can help. But I'm certainly willing to do the treatment ...

Good luck in your quest and welcome.
