  • Dr. Francis Mah: Pittsburgh, PA

I just returned from my third visit in one year with my sixth (and last) corneal specialist, Dr. Francis Mah with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).

Dr. Mah is the first corneal specialist I saw who was able to detect epithelial basement membrane dystrophy in the eye that the first corneal specialist did not see it. So, he is quite astute. I finished a course of treatment with him for recurrent corneal erosions, and things are under control. He said that I do not need to return unless there is a problem. Yea!

Dr. Mah is a very skilled doctor who listens and is willing to do everything that he can to avoid surgical interventions for rce's, though he is trained to perform PTK or PRK or stromal puncture, if needed.

I give him my highest recommendation for being expertly skilled, caring, and generous with his time!

Just some suggestions since I do not know what part of Pittsburgh you live.

I have also heard great things about Dr. Mah in Pittsburgh although I have not yet visited him yet. I would love to meet him and have his opinion so he may be next on my list.

Dr. J. Luthra an ophalmologist in Weirton, WV and is a very wonderful doctor who has cornea specialists and several optometrists who are readily available to assure that you are well taken care of. He is my local doctor and will not hesitate to refer you to other specialists.

Dr. Deval Paranjpe, a cornea specialist at Allegheny was also very helpful and compassionate.

Dr. Vicki Christopholous at UPMC was also helpful. She is an associate of Dr. Mah's, a lasik surgeon, and also suffers from Dry Eye.

I don't know about Dr. Mah's experience with dry eye, but I do know that he was able to identify corneal abnormalities that the corneal specialist I saw in Michigan missed.
