I just returned from my third visit in one year with my sixth (and last) corneal specialist, Dr. Francis Mah with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
Dr. Mah is the first corneal specialist I saw who was able to detect epithelial basement membrane dystrophy in the eye that the first corneal specialist did not see it. So, he is quite astute. I finished a course of treatment with him for recurrent corneal erosions, and things are under control. He said that I do not need to return unless there is a problem. Yea!
Dr. Mah is a very skilled doctor who listens and is willing to do everything that he can to avoid surgical interventions for rce's, though he is trained to perform PTK or PRK or stromal puncture, if needed.
I give him my highest recommendation for being expertly skilled, caring, and generous with his time!
