  • New member in desperate need of advice, thank you!

    Hello,
My name is Tiffany, I'm 33, and I live in the Midwest. I've just been diagnosed with dry eyes, MGD, Blepharitis, and Ocular Rosacea. I've had symptoms for years, but the doctors I went to had no idea what was going on. Thankfully I found a more competent doctor and, as of a little over a month ago, I'm on doxycycline (50 mg twice per day), soothe artificial tears, and Restasis. The Restasis is stinging my eyes like crazy and nothing seems to have helped at all. I'm at my wits end with feeling like there is constantly something gritty in my eyes, pain when I wake up, and irritation and major redness (my eyes are so red all the time and it's really upsetting). I've got no idea what to do. I do lid scrubs with ocusoft twice a day and ocusoft plus once per day. I apply warm compresses once per day and have attempted gland expression, but can't figure it out. Is it normal I've seen no improvement yet? Are there ways to cure this?
I'm looking into purchasing the eye mask/goggles for nighttime, but am not sure which variety is better, the Alpha Eye or Tranquileyes.
Thanks for any help any of you may give.
    Best,
    Tiffany

thanks bp77, hopefully we can figure out a regimen that provides us with some relief. i don't know anyone offline who suffers from this and it's so hard to explain the irritation and constant pain to family and friends. it's all-consuming!

feel free to send me private massege, I know how hard it is to talk to other people about this. I do not talk about it with any body any more(healthy people).

This story sounds all to familiar. I was told the same story over 12 years ago and it wasn't until a couple years ago I had more info to go from. I am guessing they had you take artifical tears and maybe put plugs in your eyes.

I'm in Minnesota so I understand how dry it can be up here. Then if it's not dry, it's allergy season.

This is a great site for support and information. Don't be scared or ashamed to ask any question here. Everyone is the same situation.

I'm so glad you found a good doctor at last! That really is the first major step towards recovery. But I know from experience that its very easy to get hopeful and excited and expect everything to get better immediately when we find a new doctor. Absolutely you should feel hopeful and excited! You deserve to be! But your eyes have been irritated and inflammed every day for years, it will take a while for the treatments you are on now to reverse years of trauma. But I'm sure it will happen; and at least now if something isn't working you have a specialist to go back to who should have a long long list of treatments for you to try

So give it some time, and if after a few months there's no improvement don't hesitate to go back to your doctor. My fingers are crossed for you!

thanks, everyone! i'll keep up hope and maintain my routine in case it ends up offering improvement. i just ordered the tranquileyes set and am optimistic about it. also, i'll send private messages to those who offered conversation--i'm beginning to feel guilty for complaining to my friends and family since they have no idea what any of this is like.
