Hi,
I had lasik surgery 6 years ago and it was the best 6 years of my life. However it all came to a screetching halt a year ago. My eyes kept closing while I was driving. Not sure why. When they continued day after day, I went to my eye doctor. He said I had an eyelid problem and sent me to a lid specialist. Lid specialist said, no, I have dry eye and put plugs in then sent me to a cornial specialist. (doctor #3), she said, eye looks great. Sent me back to #2. I got fed up because the plugs did not work, so I spiraled down into a panic attack and took a week off of work feeling out of control. When I asked doc #2 for a doctors note for work. He wrote "blepharospasm" on it. I looked it up. the internet is a double edge sword. I thought, oh that is me. so I saw doct. #4. He saw my eyes close and said, no you dont have dry eye, you have blepharospasm and started botox treatment right away. I saw 2 neurologist to make sure I did not have other "nerve" diseases. (doctors # 5 and 6). (by the way, I am ususally a very healthy runner and never had any problems in my life). So, I had 2 rounds of botox treatments that helped my eye lids from closing and this took 6 months. When it was time for round 3 of botox - I changed doctors so I could have one closer to home. (doctor #7 and current doctor). This doctor said, "no, you dont have blepharospasm, you have severe dry eye probably from lasik." uggggh, so today I have not had botox shots and I am 2 months into restasis and I have great days about 3 at a time, then really bad days usually 2 at a time. I refuse to be down about all this junk that I was handed a year ago and pray each day for God to heal me or at least give me strength to carry on.
Does anyone else have eye closure due to severe dry eye?
