  • Allergy Medicine that won't make dryness in eyes TOO bad?

It's that time in Texas again where the crap in the air is starting to aggravate my allergies.

But I have been afraid to take any OTC medicine b/c of the fact I know it might make my dryness worse.
I was wondering if anyone uses and specific brand of allergy medicine, and haven't really had a major bought of dryness wit them.
    Thank you!

Hello! I wasn't aware that antihistamines and allergy tablets can make it worse? Weirdly I took an antihistamine to stop the itching of this annoying eczema I get in winter and it coincidentally took a lot of the itchy-ness out of my eyes! I now take them regularly, just the cheapest brand I can buy.

If you can get hold of it, organic rose water kept in the fridge applied to the rim of the eye on a cotton bud or on a cotton pad for the whole eye is a lovely yet temporary relief from hayfever and such, for me anyway!

    Best of luck!

I have used Bepreve and Lastacraft in the past with little side effects. Bepreve is what Dr. Latkany had recommended to me last spring.

        Thanks all.
I am on pataday for those really bad days.
But I was talking more on the lines of oral medicines...for the sneezing, runny noses and all.

I tired lastacraft, but that actually irritated my eyes!!

        Rachel,
I will try that! thank you!

vivian my allergist and eye doc both have me trying singulair..its a mass cell stabalizer so it takes several weeks to kick in... i just started last week.. i am so hoping it will help. i am also on cromolyn eye drops from leiters-pres. free. $$$ but i cant use the bepreve since it has BAK in it... the cromolyn drops are also mass cell stab.. andhave to be used 4x a day and they take several weeks to build up in your system like singulair. good luck! keep me posted on what helps u!
