I've been using those microwavable eye compresses from Thermalon and one day I was really frustrated by my Dry Eye I microwaved it and put it straight on without letting it cool for a couple of seconds. I just hoped that the extra heat would heal me or something. I've done it about twice and I notice the right side of my right eye and the left side of my left eye is dark. It looks like the color when you have purple bags on your eyes. Will this go away?

Hi, yes I'm certain it will go away within a few weeks, I've done this before too. I understand your frustration & motivation to use higher temperatures but it is better to use moderate heat for a longer period of time - keeping it as constant as possible.

Hey. If you have burnt your eyelid skin (it should be obvious from the distinct color change and being tender to touch) I think you should wait until that heals before resuming the your warm compresses. It's normal for your eyes and the surrounding skin to be redder than usual during and for a short period of time after applying heat as blood vessels dilate. If you have obstructive MGD and your doctor has recommended warm compresses I don't think you should stop them but make sure that they're not too hot and perhaps experiment with different frequencies of doing them. Hope you improve soon

I burned my lids again! I don't know how it happened. I started making the compresses warmer now. Not once was it even too hot. I just did compress much more repeatedly now. It was helping A LOT. Now I can't do them anymore because of this burn. I made a picture of what it looks like.
Under my lower lid above the cheek it's a little red with nasty white bumps. Is this a burn? Is it serious? How long will it take to heal so I can start doing compresses again? Can I still do towel compresses because of the moisture? Also what should I put on it? My dad told me to put vasaline(strong lotion) on it so I tried that. Hopefully it works.
Also want to point out my previous burn that was black on my left and right sides, they're still there I look like a freak now. My face is all bruised and beat. My eyes are all red. I think the compresses is making my eye area darker and bruised now. I even looked at myself in the mirror and gagged a little from my burn scar. It looks absolutely disgusting. I don't even want to go out in public now.Last edited by romeodakins; 08-Jun-2013, 13:23.

I feel like I have kinda burned mine before. The skin around the eye is VERY thin, so any heat isn't that great for it..but with MGD we have to use it. I know u are worried but I think it will clear up. I would stop the heat completely until it does.
