  • Work with PC

Hi al!! I planted my eyesight at about the age of 14-15 when I had my first gaming computer. I was a child and did not understand how it could interfere with me and how I would suffer from it.

But my story is not about that. Now I'm getting a good job at the office. However, I got a dark side: I have to sit at the pc for 8-9 hours a day. On many of the advice of doctors and other patients decided to buy protective glasses. To begin with, I also put the program f. lux on the pc. I also have eye drops (Visine https://www.visine.ca/). But that the first thing that the second only reduces the pain for a while, then it comes back again. I noticed that my eyes are shaken because of the blue light from the PC.

Tell me, if I buy something out of this, will I be able to protect even more?

And I also wanted to ask which PC monitors better to buy under our disease that would not so much suffer from looking at these monitors?

        Ooleks,

Visine causes damage in the long run due to the rebound effect and preservatives. Preservative-free drops are a much safer option.

Computer work reduces blink rate so that can contribute to your discomfort (your eyes literally dry eye out as you don’t blink). Your office environment may be hostile to the eyes — e.g. low humidity from air conditioning or fans. Dry eye glasses such as Ziena, help with that.

Finally, I agree with pythonidler, you need to find out what kind of dry eye you have. It may take some time if you did not try seeing an optometrist yet. A good start is to look for a dry eye specialist.

          Thank for your replies!

So, you are right. I do not know my exact diagnosis. More precisely, I do not know which ones I added now.

Last time I was at the ophthalmologist of years in 17 (now to me 23). In my country, especially do not share all the diagnoses of a dry eye and say "you have a dry eye." All. The doctor said the same thing about me short-sightedness. But I can give you a list of my symptoms, maybe you can somehow tell me what it's like with me.

So, I'm sensitive to the wind (it dries my eyes, but my left eye is bigger, the right one is not always), if I look at the screen of the phone or PC, then after 10 minutes I already feel uncomfortable (when I put the protective mode on the screens and started using VIZINE then I can up to 40-60 minutes to sit without getting tired), yet I'm sensitive to blue lamps or close to the sinus of flowers, in the sun and in total darkness I see much better than at dusk (in general, my eyesight rises slightly in the sun) .. While all I can remember ....

Can you tell what other drops and give a link to these glasses?
          Thank you

I don’t have photophobia or computer screen issues anymore. In my case, I had some mild damage to cornea and some the screens would really strain my eyes. It is not the case anymore.

Preservative free drops usually come in vials:
            https://www.amazon.com/Systane-Ultra.../dp/B014PEZR1S

            or special multiuser containers:
            http://candorvision.com/hylo/buy/
They sell them at Shoppers Drugmart (cheaper at dry eye optometrists’’ offices). I use them because they are convenient and good for the eyes.

Lumify is a decent redness remover that just got released. Perhaps, it will help people get off Visine and other vasoconstrictors. It should not cause a rebound effect but it still has bad preservatives. I personally do not use anything with preservatives except medication (e.g Alrex) and especially not BAK. This preservative is a bad chemical, I don’t understand why it is still so
            widely used.

The Dry eye shop has a ton of options for dry eyes. I usually wear Ziena without the silicon insert but if it is windy I put it on to turn regular glasses into more of goggle glasses. Others like wraparound glasses with foam like the ones motorcyclists use. They protect against the wind and ventilation, I don’t know about light.

Where are you? I know only about the North American (West Coast/BC/WA) dry eye market. You might want to search the forum for your city or area or google for doctors. Please see pythonidler’s post on all of the things I mentioned and more. He talks about finding a doc, too. If the links don’t work, you can just scroll down:

Comparing symptoms is not helpful. I tried asking people to see a correlation between the dry eye type and symptoms but only one person got back to me lol.

Different people have different symptoms. Some have burning, others menthol feeling, others redness.
