I think the pain is mainly corneal, thats why I think it is weird. But what I have noticed is my nose/sinus are really congested... Is there a link? Or maybe the allergic diagnosis was right, bc I have noticed a slight improvement during the day, it just worsen from 5/6 pm aproximately

We did try loratadine (a UK generic not Aerius) for 2wk but it didn't help with rosacea. Might be worth a try if you have eye and other allergies.
Are you cleaning your eyes gently but thoroughly to keep the eye glands good? Do you have wraparound sunglasses for eye protection or moisture chamber to keep you going during the day?
We are using quite a thick lubricant eyedrop, as needed. Most people use the drops with hyaluronic acid in them these days - Thea Pharmaceuticals has useful modern formulations.Paediatric ocular rosacea ~ primum non nocere

Ok so a quick update:
I've been to the Rotschild Foundation today, at the ophtalmic emergencies. The intern (ophtalmo student) confirmed I had a conjunctivitis but wasn't able to make a diagnosis. She told me about blepharitis, I told her I was lost bc another ophtalmologist told me it could be MGD and she told be blepharitis and MGD ("meibomite" in french) was the same thing. Really? I doubt that but whatever.
She putted drops in my eyes, took a look and gave me a new prescription: dacudoses 3x a day to clean the eyes and drops for the dryness called Celluvisc. She also told me to keep doing the anthistaminine drops for a month.
I took an appointment with THE dry eyes specialist Dr Doan for the 25th of june and thats a real relief.
But something else is really strange: I don't know what drops the intern used before looking at my eyes, but I feel really good right now and it was 3 hours ago. I dont know if its related or bc my conjunctivitis is healing, but I really want to know WHY!!!

Unicorn, I expected problems but there was zero obvious difference on the oral. No point suppressing histamine and mass cells if it's not that type of allergy/sensitivity. She got red eye on chloramphenicol ointment and was prescribed topical antiallergy drops by random on-call, but again, it's not that type of allergy/sensitivity reaction.
Sorry, Domino, I posted same time. Great news. If we were in Paris, I'd be booking with Dr Doan too, I think. We used Celluvisc 4y no problems, very good. Hope you get more comfortable soon.Paediatric ocular rosacea ~ primum non nocere

Thx for your answers ladies
Littlemermaid, I've tried Vismed (with hyaluronate acid) and it really "burns" my eyes... I will give Celluvisc a try yes.
I don't overdo the cleaning/massages stuff, just use a dry Meibopatch with cool compresses, and it helps. Hot/warm compresses seems to worsen my symptoms and the conjunctivitis inflammation.
I've bought Blephagel to clean my eyelids but not really sure I can use it... Im really paranoid and dont want to make things worse...

Yes, we've been using warm water + cotton wool. Most face washes and moisturisers and shampoos cause rosacea flares but we are doing OK with Simple range and some Body Shop. It's been important to eliminate chemicals and perfumes in bathroom products as much as possible. I wonder if these cause rosacea sensitivity. We have to use an antibacterial facewash occasionally but we are dealing with p&p rosacea so we use courses of Zineryt and will use Metronidazole soon but that's not for you. We have eyelid wipes but not used them when it looks like sensitivity rather than oily blepharitis. It's good to be able to see the eyelash follicles on a screen from a slit-lamp ophthalmoscope, if you can find that. Then you can judge whether any eyelash base cleaning is working.
On allergy eyes, our Ophth showed me maybe a distinction between an inflamed eye surface and an allergic conjunctiva is that in allergy the red continues right down into the bottom of the inside of the lower eyelid. Whereas with eg meibomian gland dysfunction or a surface problem, we have found behind the eyelid is sore and red, and we also see blocked glands sometimes as chalazia, but as we look down there is white again right at the bottom of the inside of the lower eyelid. This would not be conclusive but might help.
Hopefully, an experienced Ophthalmologist will know the difference between MGD and allergy.Last edited by littlemermaid; 15-May-2014, 10:55.Paediatric ocular rosacea ~ primum non nocere

Not sure if it's any use at all but here is some coverage of the French Society of Ophthamology's meeting, Paris, yesterday. Might help you find out who is who. And explain why there's no one around... http://www.healio.com/ophthalmology/...ternal-disease. It would be great to get an attendance list...Paediatric ocular rosacea ~ primum non nocere

Hi there,
Just another thought: I have night sweats, I supposed it was related to my caloric intake bc I have them for 2 years now, before my dry eyes problem, but could it be related?
Night sweats, facial hair, dry skin, dry eyes... I'm really thinking this could be hormone related after my eating disorders.
