  • So, I've been doing this green tea "bath" for several days---and it seems to help. Just need to get through this adjustment to quadra-plugs, and I think they'll work out.
During a really bad bout I found myself in church one Sunday in extreme pain. As I dipped my hand in the holy water on my way in, I splashed nice cold holy water on my eyes. I swear it helped.

I'm glad to know about the green tea. I have one nearly every day. I will keep it in mind as an option for relief.

    • Hello everyone
I haven't posted for a while because I was trying a non involvement with dry eye technique. This has involved doing nothing asociated with dry eye to try to break the cycle. This has been possible because for the last 6 weeks I have noticed a significant improvement in my eyes and i decided to try to get back to normality. So I have taken no flax seed, no compresses, no clarymist etc.etc. I have still had minor symptoms from time to time but I can honestly say this is the best my eyes have felt for over 18 months. Yesterday i went nearly a full day before I remembered i had a problem and I guess that is my goal, to one day be able to say " yeah i used to have that". I still have drops next to my bed and water my eyes during the night but the difference is tremendous. I didnt do anything dramatically different but reading Dr. Latkanys reply about nerve regrowth up to 5 years after Lasik makes me hope I am on the way to recovery and I think that is still our major lifeline.
I have done this before and it has came back but it does feel different this time.

God bless everyone and I will let you know how it goes.

      • Good for you Hangus! I can understand your simply throwing your arms up and saying enough is enough. I think I'll try your approach for my new weight loss plan!

        • Interesting

          Barry,
          Very good.
I think the tear film is naturally easy to disrupt, even in normal people with healthy tears. When folk like us notice problems it can easily become compulsive to constantly think about how our eyes are feeling.
When we start to monkey around with eye spray and drops I think these can sometimes disrupt our own tear film - maybe this is why doing nothing can help??
I think 90% of the things I have tried have done nothing good for my eyes. Hard bit is filtering out which things help which is very difficult when the experts tell us a lot of things can take weeks or months to work.

          Regards,
          Bruce.

          • Good To Hear Hangus

It's always nice to hear when someone is doing good and not having eye trouble. I wish that I didn't have to use my preservative free eye drops but my eyes are so dry that I can't open them in the morning without the drops, I couldn't imagine not having them. Not too mention the mucus strings I suffer from 24-7, the drops helps remove them, if I don't use the drops my eyes are like sandpaper. I just had to say that Im happy your eyes are better D

            • Hi. I'm Isis but I had to create a new account so yeah... Isiskitty.

Anyway, my eyes are feeling okay today. Every time it rains, they feel better. It's so weird! I wish it could rain all the time! MGD is one of the worst things I have experienced. It's so painful and my eyelids are all swollen and messed up most days. It makes me happy when I have a few nice days like today was.

              • My eyes have been doing so well these last few months... then today happens! I don't know what's causing my eye problems today, but I have the familiar feeling of tears rapidly evaporating off the surface of my eyes. I experienced the "cooling effect" earlier today, and my eyes are now burning as if I put battery acid in my eyes. I've been using a lot of drops today (which is probably making matters worse). I should just try to stop with the drops and just ignore the pain. I wish I could just go shut my eyes for 15-20 minutes, but I'm at work and my co-workers (and boss) definitely would not understand.

I can't wait until the day is over! I can leave in a couple more hours. But, I'll probably feel better once I leave the dreaded office environment. My eyes always feel worse at work. Anyway, thanks for listening... I just had to vent to someone.

                • Happy Holiday's

Just wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my dry eye friends. To Julie, I am sorry to hear how bad your eyes are burning, have you tried the preservative eye drops? It's all that I use now since I've tried almost every drop out there. I also work in a office and I am in front of the computer all day and sometimes I wish I could take my eye's out and rinse them under cold water I hope that everyone has a good holiday and can get some time to rest. Winter is here now in Idaho and the freezing winds don't do any good for my eyes, I am still suffereing but I just try my best to live with it the best I can. God Bless your friend Delilah

                  • Merry Christmas Delilah!
So sorry to hear your eyes have not been treating you any better. Maybe the new year will bring us all inspiration, renewed hope or perhaps even a miracle! Here's to hoping!
                    Best wishes

                    • Dear Delilah and all,

My wishes also for a wonder holiday season, with no irritation from spruce trees, dry heat and blowing winds. I'm blessed with no repeat of my RCE, as well as no issues with the heat this year.

But then again, it has been in the 70's (an all time temp high) in Atlanta this winter, so global warming is looking out for me. Delilah, still considering moving here? PM me if you wish.

Julie and the rest of the gang - my New Year prayer is for improved eye options, new ideas from our friends here at DEZ, and a positive attitude to keep us all going so we can progress even with our severe handicaps.

It CAN GET BETTER....look forward, even though it's difficult.

                      Best Wishes,
                      Elegiamore

                        • Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone! I was thinking about how many people on this board have probably found a solution to their problems this past year (or atleast seen improvements) and how many more of us could be the lucky ones next year! I'm going through quite a rough patch now, but trying to stay confident that it will pass soon. I hope we all find better comfort in the coming year!

                          • bad week...

Well, I'm having a bad eye week but this site keeps me going. I admitted my 'problem' (I'm out of the dry-eye closet!! lol!!!) to a friend on Saturday and the reaction was amusing, they were quite horrified at the idea of someone waking up 2-3 times a night because of something like this, it reminded me about how the topic doesn't really get enough attention.

I have always saw this forum with lots of post about negative things like eyes problem, etc etc........ and this forum lacked something positive around here, and tadaaaa almighty queen put the
"Our dry eye triumphs " =D.... this is EXCELLENT

Ohh.. well, for MY daily check in.. errr
well my eyes are rather the same as before....... Mmmm.. but still a bit better rather than worser... but still nearly the same....
dryness does not affect me sooo regularly :
the only drops i use is Saline -only twice: morning and evening .......
but i put some ointment near my eyelid and well they rather (but not always) last for the day.
the MOST serious problem i feel is mucus and redness...grrrr
well.. guess if my eyes was wetter, they both will disapear...
If I have to choose between being happy and sad, I''ll choose being happy....... and you?... so.... stop choosing being unhappy (yeah its hard but....)....stop depressing........ live!!!
