Hello all,
For the past fifteen years, doctors have told me (M, 44) I have mild MGD and I am blowing it out of proportion. Heat and massage have made it felt worse, and lubricants did nothing or even exacerbated it.
However, I recently saw an ophthalmologist who also diagnosed MGD...but said it was likely due to my mild floppy eyelids. I have always been a face sleeper and its possible my eyelids have become less elastic from rubbing the pillow. For the past 8 years, I've used overnight ortho-K lenses that may have disguised the diagnosis. I do not have signs of sleep apnea.
For past few months, I have been using overnight ointment and a rigid mask. I'm not sure they are doing much. I have started doxycycline. Daytime lubricants don't seem to help much - the choice is overwhelming so I don't know which is best? It is annoying but not painful...its the relentlessness that is annoying. It's triggered healthy anxiety in me, which I think makes the irritation more draining and obsessing.
Does this resonate with anyone else? Does anyone have any tips?
