  • Wondering about inflammation

...so after healing the conjunctival epithelium (my conjunctival staining was 3/4 ..the gritty feeling was horrible!), and working hard on MGD (everything under control now), the next step for me was the redness/inflammation of the eyes (mild to moderate not severe) caused by blepharitis.

Now...i've been using Lotemax for 4 weeks

    - 2 drops daily for 15 days
    - 1 drop another 15 days

onestly i saw very little improvment of the redness (just a bit in the first 2 weeks) .......i'm quite sad at this point and i'm starting to think that maybe i needed a more strong dosage of the steroid?? also, why do doctors prescribe steroids if they reduce inflammation only temporarily?? ....it's ridicolous, i mean ...if one develops redness from allergies, blepharitis or whatever you can't get that away anymore??!?

    Hello Francesco!

have you considered that there may be an allergic issue with your eyes which is perhaps causing the blepharitis?

I find myself very frustrated, like you, that I've improved meibomian function enormously, my eyes don't even feel very dry any more, but the lids are still irritated and red inside.

Blepharitis doesn't come from nowhere...something is causing it.

I am currently looking at my environment (home) even at what I eat to try and find out...

    Have you seen an allergist?

    best wishes,
    Eva

      Hi Eva!!

yes i've seen an allergist ...tested everything and also my eves never itch so i don't have allergies.....i'm sure this redness was caused by blepharitis but the question is when and how i'm i gonna remove it!

Allergies don't always produce itching, at least so I've been told by an eye specialist...

Perhaps the term "allergy" is not appropriate here...what we should be looking for is something which causes inflammation - which is perhaps not quite the same, medically speaking, as an actual allergy.

Why don't you post a question in the Pro Corner to Dr Justin Bazan - he is may have an interesting insight for you?

when you say redness -- do you mean bloodshot on the whites of your eyes, or red-rimmed lids.

when I look in the mirror I see inflamation for sure-- something is not right -- but the whites of my are fine, not bloodshot at all.
