    Living a normal life now

Hi, I never enter his forum anymore since it reactivates old, dark feelings but felt I had to share that I feel that I'm back to living a normal life (I started out as a post LASIK dry eye sufferer with corneal neuralgia). As you can see from my previous posts I have gone through a whole lot of treatments...

  • I crawled on my hands and knees to the end of the dry eye hell tunnel

Hoping not to jinx myself, but it's been five years, so here goes.

I was on this website for two years starting in 2016, suffering in what seemed like endless dry eye hell tunnel. I woke up every two hours from pain, wore moisture chamber glasses that looked like goggles, tried my best...

  • Hi Nevil,

I’ve repeated various tests related to Sjogrens and autoimmune disease for several years, but nothing ever was positive. My Rheumatoid Factor number increased a bit over the years, but remained in the normal range.

My scleral doctor is the one who observed via...

    My Sclerals have started burning.

So, I have been a scleral lens wearer for 4-5 months. Had stopped it later as I wasn't able to wear them comfortably for more than 2 hours.
Post some investigations I was put on DMARDs(Disease-modifying antirheumatic drug) and cyclosporine little later.

    A little after starting DMARDs...

Putting honey on my eyelids worked

I finally found something that is working. I read a post from someone who said putting honey in her eyes all but cured her dry eye syndrome. So, having suffered from this disease for almost 30 years now, I was desperate enough to try it. I did not want to post anything for a few months as sometimes...

  • How did you get dry eye disease? How has it affected your life? Share your story here.

  • Hi Hokucat: My right eye waters all the time. I was thinking of asking my doctor for dissolvable plugs. I’m assuming one would call watery eyes, resultant from dry eye disease, as evaporative tears.(?) Were your eyes watery…was that the reason you sought plugs?

  • I am 49 and have suffered from severe dry eye syndrom esince my early 20's. It's like your life is a copy of mine. The doctor thinks the cause is ocular roseacea. I too have the bottom two puntua cauterized since my late 20s after I had a nightmare with a punctal plug getting trapped in my eye....

  • More advanced approaches to treating problems with the eyes

    Hello

sorry for being a bit of a "futurist" in the case of dry eye disease, but I always liked science fiction
I have a question about somewhat "more advanced" approaches to treating dry eye disease and other problems with eyes. Does anyone know or heard...

  • Hi Nevil,

When I first got sclerals, I was able to wear them fairly comfortably for several months, but then my eye dryness and burning got so bad, I could no longer tolerate wearing them.

It’s possible the DMARDs and/or cyclosporine contributed to burning and discomfort....

    Statins

I'd like to ask whether any other dry-eye sufferers are finding that their symptoms have got worse after taking statins?

I was prescribed statins a year ago but decided not to take them because the literature said they could cause "sore eyes". This led me to think that reducing...

  • I have different underlying conditions, so what helps me may be different. My underlying conditions are likely Sjogren’s Syndrome (autoimmune disease that dries up moisture glands esp. in eyes and mouth), worsened by excessive computer use and long work commutes, which reduced blink rates leading...
