  • Diet tips please

    Hi

I've decided it was time to change my diet for good, it's going to be hard but I really think my problem is related to heavy metals intoxication because I'm tattooed (both arms + chest) and I've read red tattoo ink contains mercury. It could also be candida because after having eating disorders for 5 years and basically eating salads/apples/bread/low fat yoghurts and nothing else all this time, it would be logical to get a yeast overgrowth. I have scalp seb derm (hard cysts, so disgusting) + mild rosacea on my face + dry skin (except for my greasy nose and my flaky eyebrows!), and never had any skin problems before my eating disorders.

But I just don't know WHICH diet I should try. The GAPS diet seems interesting, anti-candida too. I have already started saunas/hot baths to detox, and take Probiotics + antifungals (garlic pills).

What should I do next? What supplements would you advise? I've already spent so much money on this dry eye thing I can't afford seeing a naturopath right now.

    Thank you

      Hi dominorose,
I started a gluten free diet 5 weeks ago, I just cut dairy out a week ago and 3 days ago added in drinking close to a gallon of water a day. I do feel so healthy and it was tough at first but as they say, 20 days to break a habit. I am doing this for my eyes in hopes that it will help manage. This is just me. There are others that are doing other diets. Which ever diet you choose, I believe at least adding in the drinking of water will help with all of them. I read that these diets take a while - maybe 3 months to feel an effect, so be patient with what ever you choose. sorry that you had some eating disorders in the past, I am sure you are past those and are off to a wonderful start now! Take care....your pic looks cute!

        Hi Domino,
I try to stay away from sugar, alcohol, dairy (eggs are OK), nightshades and foods high in histamines. Foods containing vinegar are a problem, but might not be for you. I went gluten free, but now find that I can eat a bit of bread now and then. Try to stay low carb and eat lots of veggies and protein. Chicken and turkey seem the most soothing for me, but I get sick of eating nothing but chicken an turkey, so also eat some pork and red meat. Best of luck to you!

Thank you LaDiva, I will really try to cut carbs totally for 2/3 weeks just to see how it goes! For chicken I've noticed the same thing, why is that?!

And what is your diagnosis? thx!

Thx runnergirl and for the pic but I would really LOVE to take those sunnies off

I think the candida diet will be helping: cutting carbs/dairy, and mostly my diet coke/coffee addiction would be a good start. It is hard yes, because after my recovery and not allowing myself to eat tons of things I really wanted to enjoy foods... But I'm convinced my body don't want to

              Hi Domino,
I have ocular rosacea, tear deficiency and meibomian gland dysfunction. Not sure why chicken is a friendly food, but it is! Also, if you want to track your food, maybe try an elimination diet to see which foods you can keep, and which you cannot. Your doctor can give you one, or there are guidelines online.

                    Hi Dominorose,

Love your tats!! You look pretty darn good in that picture!

Regarding sauna, do you not find that the dry air aggravates your eyes?

                      Thank you!!!

The sauna is mainly hot and humid, I think it helps more than hot compressesfor ex (but maybe not enough to open the glabds properly)

Here are my diet tips: 1. Cut carbs 2. Eat protein 3. Drink lots of water 4. Don't eat a lot of fruit , if you must only berries 5. Don't eat corn, dairy(or limit), and soy. Soy is a big trigger for me. If you want a diet to follow, I personally recommend brady barrows rosacea diet or the clean gut diet (it's a book)

How do you post a profile pic? I can't figure it out

I don't have any new private messages. Did you try sending me one?!

Also, which is worse if I need a carb snack ? Cherries or plain rice crackers?

For some reason tuna is a big trigger for me. And of course my beloved wine And the same as faith and ladiva--sugar/carbs. I do drink a tiny bit of coffee. And I'm cutting out peanuts.
