  • For those who have doubts about the IPL. (Information)

People, I feel that many people are interested in IPL. The information and stories of those who have gone through treatment are scattered throughout the forum. This makes it difficult for us to gather more precise information on the IPL.

Let me suggest here that we create a topic by gathering all relevant information we have about the treatment. I hope that everyone can contribute what they know and also identifying where are the stories and information here on the forum.

I think it is interesting to divide the information into categories. This makes it easier for something we feel in our interest.

I am a Post-Lasik, but I want this topic help all who have questions and seek information about this treatment.

If necessary, make a small website. Thus, separation of information by category here on the topic and create links to the page (eg for people to read the stories of those who have gone through treatment).

Some information that I think should have.

1 - Introduction. Explaining that is NOT a cure. Also explaining the basics of treatment.
2 - Names of doctors who perform the treatment and where they work
3 - FAQ for users who do not understand very well the treatment.
4 - Stories of users who have been through the treatment (if necessary, I collect the posts and group them, condensing the story. And we also give the link pointing to the topic in the story is).
5 - Data on treatment for those who want to take him to his country.

I'm no creativity at the moment, but come on, any idea is welcome. I know there are many people who can not bear read more about IPL. But it also has many people who need information.

So I am counting on your help to gather information. I predisposes to organize them. Any suggestion is valid. Veterans and non-registered people who read the forum for some time, count on you.

    Good idea.

I hope Sazy123 does not mind me suggesting that her name is added to the list.

Living in the UK myself, I found Sazy's accounts very helpful.

Thanks for the help Irish eyes =)

I find it interesting to merge the information. This makes it easier for those who are concerned about the treatment.

Soon I will open my topic as well. I hope to start my treatment next month ... Then we have another story (hope of success, hehehe).
My procedure will also be filmed and my Dr. will monitor my progress. I hope to share all this data with you and help people who want to do with IPL treatment in their own country. = D

        Hi André,
I had dry eyes from Lasik like you. It occurred in 2004 and cured for 4 years. Don't know exactly how I was cured. Please read details of my dry eyes from this thread:
        http://www.dryeyezone.com/talk/showt...2715#post52715

Now dry eyes come back to haunt me again.

I am also think to have IPL done in Thailand by a dermatologist. Do you able to find the same machine that Dr. Toyos uses in the U.S. in your country? How do you know the setting?

            Hi,
I have been "lurking" around for quite some time. I am a 52 year old male in so. cal. I had the dreaded LASIK performed in January of 09 by a local Dr. who completly dumped me after the 6 month mark. I ended up through my HMO at a very nice eye clinic where they plugged me (X4) with permanant plugs and follow my progress. I had been on restasis for about 15 months but I gave up on it as I felt like I was having a negative reaction to it, a lot more pain and dryness. I use lots of drops throughout the day, I wear Panoptix all day and night and Genteal at night for sleeping. I am also being watched as I experienced PVD's and eneded up with horrible floaters (that's another story). After months of excruciating dry eyes and loosing my ability to work and play, I have just about givin up.

While watching the tv show "The Doctors," Dr, Kerry Assil was on a segment doing an IPL treatment on a dry eye patient and I watched with interest. It turns out the next day, my wife met a client of ours and it turns out she was a retired eye dr. and recommended I see her friend, non other than Dr. Assil. So..
I saw him yesterday, I explained my history (I have been tested for auto-immune disorders and was negative) that I never heard of dry eye before LASIK. After examining me, he said that non-post Lasiks people have a 70% recovery rate and post-Lasiks have about a 60% recovery rate with the IPL. Another Dr. came in and examined me as well and they both thought I would benifit form the procedure stating that it looks like the water and mucus component in my eyes were ok but there was no oil component. In fact I TBUTed at 0-1.
I received the treatment ($750.00) and then my glands were expressed, I actually felt and heard a "pop" and she was very impressed that I "responded" so well. I don't really feel any different today, still dry but when I do get a bit of tears (as they have not removed my plugs yet) they seem a bit more "oily." I have been prescribed Doxy and a drop smilar to Azasite but not Azasite, I'll start those later today.
The only problem I have is that my previous doctors have said that I don't exhibit any signs of MGD? That is why I have been holding off but this group of doctors say otherwise and feel it is obvious.
Anyway, it was a good experience, the staff if first rate and the office is like something out of a posh hotel in Vegas. I will update after my next treatment next month. Sorry for long post.

I had my second IPL treatment yesterday with Dr. Assil. I have had no improvement at all thus far but I was told thatit will take four treatments before I feel any relief. Dr. Assil did a Tbut test with blue dye and counted a 7 second left eye and 6 second right eye and said last month they were 0-2 in each eye. He said that it is nothing to get excited about as these scores vary but it was something. They went ahead and performed the IPL treatment with higher intensity and upon completion, another Dr. came in to express the glands. This Dr. said that last month the oils were like "toothpaste" and this time like "butter." She went on to say that the goal is to get a consistensy of "olive oil." Maybe were on the right track. Anyway, there was quite a bit of pain and dryness throughout yeaterday and last night, it is a bit better today but as I recall it was like that last time as well. I'll keep you posted.
