    dry eye: itching!

RCE: like squirting the juice from a lemon into the hundreds of papercuts on my eyeball

ETA: I don't actually have papercuts on my eyeball. I have apparently always had dry eyes, but developed RCE in April of 2006 after an injury to my eye. Kitty litter was involved, so I really did have 30-40 minor abrasions on my cornea.

I'm going to go with soreness/tightness.

And I would LOVE to hear what people's causes of dry eye are in this thread as well, if they are known. I don't think people always list LASIK or a similar surgery as the cause in their profiles. Probably for good reason. I don't want to admit it either.

    Ho hum.

For me it is the photophobia first. Secondary would be the burning.

Child with MGD: photophobia, tearing, no energy. In children there can be no other sensation, therefore often undiagnosed resulting in severe vascularisation, corneal melt; still no pain as adults describe.
