  • Plugs, Doxy, Azasite

    Hi all!

Just went to my eye doctor. She seems to be as confused as I am as to why my eyes hurt. I'm currently on restasis, and it has helped maybe about 20%. She now suggests plugs. However, I have read not to do plugs until the inflammation has decreased. I'm pretty sure my eyes are still very inflamed, as cold presses bring instant tears to my eyes and help my eyes a lot. With that information in mind, what has helped with inflammation the best? The restasis isn't doing it for me. I feel like I'm the doctor, and need to bring her what she should put me on before doing the plugs.

I don't want to spend all the money on plugs, only for it not to help because my eyes are still so inflamed.

Does Azasite work for inflammation? Doxy??

Any suggestions on what to help with the inflammation would be great!

I would suggest going with the plugs only because the FDA approval for Restasis was granted only after patients with plugs were included in the study, it had failed to meet end point objectives four times before.

The inflammation will stay until the osmolarity of the tear film returns to normal.

Azasite and doxy work on the inflammation of the meibomian gland ducts.
