  • 2013 article on functional lacrimal gland regeneration - any updates?

Article: Functional lacrimal gland regeneration by transplantation of a bioengineered organ germ
    Date of publication: 10/1/2013

It's an in depth article on how a team of Japanese scientists were able to successfully regenerate tear and salivary glands in mice. Here is a short video on it as well:

This article has been published on here before but I was wondering if there were any new updates, news, or information regarding this? I can't seem to find any information after 2013, and was wondering if this is still being actively researched.

This seems very promising, this is a terrible condition to have and it would be wonderful if dry eyes had a more curative solution than what's been given to us.

I read about this only last night, I just wonder... What about inflammation? Does it start up again in the new tear glands or does it not show itself again prior to being already there? I'd suggest typing it in and doing 2016 to see if anything is there. x also why am I not surprised it's a Japanese study? They always seem to go about it completely different and get great results. Not suppose to offend anyone just to say. I hope they keep up with this, I'd love to be able to get this as a new surgery? Option hopefully. I was going to post this today, but I won't cause you already did. But I'm really interested in the study itself, there are so many different ways to go about it.
