In the last 10 years since I've had blepharits/MGD, I've noticed that I cannot cry tears (the emotional sort). Does anyone else have the same problem?
When I am chopping onions though, I can cry reflex tears.
I think the Accutane I was on damaged or clogged the meibomian glands. According to my eye specialist, my tear flow is fine. But I'm not sure if the oil quality/quantity is what it should be. He also said I have collarettes and debris in the tearfilm.
I don't experience any pain, but what bothers me is that the conjunctiva is always irritated with red veins.
So one trick I've been doing this year is heating up the jug everyday. Once its boiled, I put a towel over my head, and put my head above the jug for 10 minutes. The heat seems to last longer than the cloths/rice stockings/rice baggies I've tried over the years. Usually after a couple of minutes, I can feel the oils secreting. I hope that the more I do this, the glands will find it easier to automatically secrete during the day, and also that the conjunctiva will have a whiter appearance.
