  • My Eye Check Up

Hello friends, well I had my eye's checked yesterday, it had been 2 years My Lattice Degeneration is stable, the dry eye is worse he said but I already knew that lol. He dialated my eyes which I always hate and it ruins my whole day. It feels awful and I ended up coming home and crying myself to sleep, nothing he can do for the dry eye but at least my eyes are fine. He said that usually people with LD won't have a detached retena, sorry can't spell today, but it sounded like good news as I was worried things have gotten worse and they are stable and doing good.

My vision hasn't changed which is good and my stomach seems to be doing a bit better? Thank-you all for being so supportive and I will let you all know what the doctor says on the 28th about my stomach. Have a great weekend friends. Love Delilah

    • Come on lboogie!
It's early days for you yet - I understand you are less thank 1 year post-op?
I'm down just now too - had some days off work this week due mainly to DES.
Anyway you have a lot of healing to look forward to - chin up.

      • Is it too early to Hope? Tears!

I've been following a new routine using Dr. Holly's drops, and weaning myself off of PF Tears Naturale (I'm still using Genteal Gel at bedtime). And--I brought out my bottle of Dakrina to try---this has felt really weird in my eyes in the past---I never gave it a chance.

Well, I think Dwelle and NutraTear are working---and maybe it's the Dakrina. But I FEEL TEARS IN MY EYES!!! This is really strange for me---especially for my right eye---that's been totally dry for the last 3 weeks. Something's changing (I dare to hope).

        • Great news, Calli. I've been using Dwelle/Dakrina fairly regularly and have had an excellent spring...usually my worst time. I haven't been using my blood serum much either. Very, very encouraging!

          • progress report

I just wanted to post how I am doing since lasik 5 months ago I am seeing cornea specialist my 5th doc. she started me on serum drops 2 weeks ago I do seem to be seeing some improvement mostly in my left eye as it stays comfortable most of the time. right eye still causing me trouble pain dry etc. I do have 2 styes on my upper eyelid on that eye, I saw dr today she tried to clear them it seemed to help and she put me on tobradex. I also have been using dwelle, darkina, nutra tear drops the dwelle has been working good for over night. my dr wants me not to use these because of the preservative. so I guess I will use the ointment at night for a while. still unable to return to work but have a glimmer of hope in recent improvement and dr said there is still a lot of inflammation so as that goes down hopefully more tears will come also she wants me to see dermatolgist to rule out roscea. thanks to all on this site it has been a good source of information and encouragement. ding

              • i recently started work since last week. I'm in traineeship at a bank for 6months.
The 1st week has been relatively welcoming due to my dry eye didn't exacerbate me a lot... I was afraid it would. but then, the building is air conditioned.
I have found some interesting thing on my dry eye and air con:

When the air con option is on Cool, then my eye feel greats!!!!!!!!!
but when some s*cker put this option on dry... then my eye feel veryy bad and
                i'm thirsty a lotttt...
So guys, put ur aircon on Cool...!
Moreover, its winter here in mauritius and the air is relatively cool and good. but when I have noticed that when the weather is realllyyyy cold then my eye become WHITE compared to red road map eye.
BUT... the cold air make my (rare) white eyes produce lots of mucus.
I wonder y is it so?... any way I hope guys ur fine u too?
If I have to choose between being happy and sad, I''ll choose being happy....... and you?... so.... stop choosing being unhappy (yeah its hard but....)....stop depressing........ live!!!

                • day off

                  Hi All,
I've been having some emtional days recently again.....today I took the day off work, am having the scratchy plug fixed, got a new prespricption for a different kind of birth control pills (that might be better for dry eyes), got my mental health appt (not till July 23rd!), AND spent a good long time at the gym.

I'm feeling okay today -- just wanted to share, and also thanks to Lucy who always says to keep excerising!! I'm an athelete and I usually turn to excerise to feel better -- but lasik complications have totally floored me. I know I need to return what works for me and just do it!!!!

Keep your fingers crossed that the silcone plugs keep me moist -- I sure hope so.

Thanks to all for being a source of support.

                  • So Depressed!

Well I had to quit my job at Heinz Frozen Foods today! The freezing cold air was making my eyes even worse! The mucus strings were at their worst and I just feel like giving up! Im so sick of having this f'n disorder! When are the docs going to find a cure for dry eye? Im so sick of it, when I got out of the plant tonight my eyes were so bone dry I could barely blink! I've had it! Now Im back to being jobless and worried, on comes the drinking and I only hope that I can find another job soon, I am going to be studying for my social work board exams this month again, probably only to find that I've wasted another $175 dollars and end up failing. Why isn't God listening to me?

                    • God is listening...we just don't always get an immediate and clear answer.

For the moment I'm not working as I am at home with the kids, but I have thought long and hard about where I would seek employment when the need arises. And it will arise some day. My husband insists that a greenhouse/nursery would be ideal for me. It's humid, not a lot of moving air...it could work. If you're needing an interim job until you launch into your career in social work, you might think about it. I happen to love taking care of plants, so it's a big plus for me.

                      Good luck, Delilah.

Good ole Gary always comes through, doesn't he, Di? That's an excellent recommendation. (It probably wouldn't work for Delilah though as the pay isn't great.). Di---he's waiting for the smallest one to be in school, I can tell. Lucy

                        • Thanks

Thanks Diana, Im okay now I just had to vent. I've got 3 job referrals for Monday and I won't stop looking until I find something and start studying for my social work board exams, interns don't make any money and they mostly accept only students that are needing to do their interships. It's just frustrating when I have this severe dry eye and many other medical problems on top of everything. I won't give up and appreciate your friendship along with all the others. Your Buddy D

                              • 4th of July

Hello friends hope everyone had a good 4th, my plans got cancelled as I am suffering from a yeast infection and to top it off I am on my period for the 2nd time! I stayed home while all my friends went to the show, watched the fireworks from my yard as I live by the highway and they are visiable from where I live.

My boyfriend had to work a graveyard shift so I wasn't in good spirits. I go to see the gyno on the 15th, I can't take regular estrogen pills as I suffer from Erythema Nodosum, painful nodules that appear all over my legs! It took years for the doctors to find out what was causing them. I was on the Depo shot and it has horrible side effects, only good thing is that it takes my periods away completely but it's not worth getting blurred vision and my hair falling out!

I have bad enough eyes already so I am on this other pill that is progesteron only and it's making me sick and it also causes your hair to fall out! I only found that out as I researched it, it's making me have 2 periods a month and Im just sick of it! So I will be getting the surgery to have my tubes tied and cut! I am 32 years old and don't ever want children, so it's the best thing for me and my health.

I am to sickly of a person to have children and I've really never wanted them, not that I don't love children but they are just not for me, I am always sick with something and my financial state isn't good, I can barely take care of myself so I have made the decision to have the surgery. I am not sure when I will have it but hopefully soon as I won't be going on another birth control.

I am hoping that my insurance will cover it since it's due to a medical problem, I will talk with my gyno about that. If they don't cover it then I will just have to make payment arrangements, I will keep you all updated on that. My eyes are at their worst today and it's driving me freakin crazy! Idaho's summers are very hot and dry and it doesn't make anything better as I have to have airconditioning and it also makes my eyes worse.

Gee will I ever find relief? Sorry for such a long post, just time for me to vent. I could handle the dryness a bit better if I didn't have these mucus strings non-stop! Well okay Im done venting lol, your all probably sick of hearing me complain. Hope everyone had a good 4th, if any of you have any questions just ask me or if you need to vent on me I will always be here to listen. God Bless Your Buddy D
