          • Bad days

The weather in NY is getting very cold and a storm is coming, this winter has been mild for the most part but the cold air really makes my eyes so sore and my vision so blurry. I am constantly putting in rewetting drops all day at work to keep the vision clear and just waiting to get home so I can put some ointment in my eyes to soothe them....oh well another day to get through and hope that tomorrow is better than today ....

            • 2009 Might As Well Rewind!

Well friends this New Year sure hasn't gotten off to a good start for me, as for many others, this recession is killing us all. Not to mention my eyes are at their worst and it just seems nothing is working anymore This morning was 14 below zero! This is one of the coldest winters Idaho has seen in years and my eyes feel like the frozen ground outside, dry as bones, mucus strings day in and day out, my humidifier doesn't even help so I quit using it. Besides that I wish all my dry eye friends much luck in this New Year, if yours has been as awful as mine then I know I am not alone. God Bless Delilah

              • Some better days

Just a hopeful note for this Friday before a 3-day weekend. Both myself and my dry eye buddy have had some days of feeling better and enjoying things like gardening, sports, etc!

I don't dare to say I'm out of the woods by any means, but it's nice to have some relief every so often. And so nice to feel "free!"

                Have a great weekend everyone.

                • Hello Friends

Sorry it's been so long that I've posted and I had promised to write in my daily blog but I now have 2 jobs Wish I could only find one good job and not have to work 2 part-time jobs. My eyes are still dry as bones, still doing my daily and nightly rituals with them My eye mucus strings are very bad today and I am not looking forward to seeing a bunch of people. Other than that it's summer time here in Idaho and the weather is beautiful, we've gotten quite a bit of rain and it's so nice and soothing, refreshing and seems to help my eyes a bit more. Anyway's just wanted ya'll to know I haven't forgotten about you and I hope you are all in good spirits. Your Dry Eye Vet Buddy D.

                  • Hi, Delilah!

I'm glad to hear that you are doing okay. With DES, things could always be better, but you sound as upbeat as always. Thanks for bringing your great attitude back to the message board. It's always nice to hear from you.

Hope your doing good Liz and thanks again for always listening to me, how have you been? Your Buddy D

                      • Good to hear from you Delilah. Good to hear that you are still hanging in there - you've been in it for the long haul now. Good luck with the uterus problems - I joined up on a hysterectomy website(my op was last August) which was a great support. They form little groups - you get in a group for the month you are having your op and I found it very supportive. Good therapy to chat with others when you are recuperating. They also give lots of good advice so do some research. Yes it does take at least 6 weeks to come right. We reckoned 3 months before going back to work but you are young and a lot depends on the severity of the operation. NO lifting and take it easy - no big shopping sprees! You will need that help when you come home from hospital - make the most of it. PM me if you like.

I'm getting along OK. Still would like a magic cure for DE but I am in a manageable position. Very thankful to have the support of DEZ. My 5 yr anniversary is just over 3 months away.
                        Cheers everyone
                        Dot

                        • Thanks Dot

Thank-you for your support and to the other friends here on Dry Eye Zone. I see my Gyno on the 25th, now I am not sure if I can afford the surgery I have insurance but I have many other medical bills haunting me, the surgery will cost $1600 and the hospital wants $19,000! My insurance just rolled over new so I have to pay the $1000.00 deductible, that's not including the anesthesiologist! So now I am done taking my anti-biotics and my pains are minimal.

My eyes are awful as usual, we are thinking of moving again, I was born and raised in Idaho so it's hard to leave home but there is no jobs here, I work part-time right now and it's not doing much for me, my boyfriend just found a job for now but Las Vegas seems to be catching our eyes, he was born there, it's more expensive but there is way more opportunities in Las Vegas, I will let you all know what my plans are. Again Thank-you for your support. Your Buddy Delilah

                          • so disappointed

I went to a new eye doctor (optometrist) a month or so ago. I had such high hopes - too high. He put me on Azasite, Freshkote, warm compress and massage. At first the Azasite was very irritating, then became bearable. I saw a little improvement in my vision, somewhat less blurry.

Then, about a week ago everything went downhill again. My eyes are worse than ever, well they've probably been this bad but with the disappointment it seems worse.Tonight, my eyes are red, swollen and raw. I'm dealing with a health issue that is making me anxious, so maybe that's some of the problem. I see this doctor again on July 1st, so hopefully he will have some other plan for me.

Dealing with this other problem and not being able to read or watch a movie or anything much to distract me has been so hard. Can't use the computer for more than a few minutes at a time and then it takes my eyes a half hour to recover.

I'm just feeling mad , a little down this evening. Thanks for letting me rant a little.
