  • Where can we get Ttranquileyes foams?!! ANY advice would be appreciated!

I just learned that EyeEco was taken over by PRN and no longer sells Tranquileyes' Replacement Foams. I'm specifically sensitive to the regular form which gives me a rush and totally depend on the fabric-lined foam for my sleep, as my condition requires complete darkness with constant moisture. Without it, I can't sleep and can't maintain my eye health, and ability to function...

I have no idea how I would literally survive without it or a similarly effective solution. The silicon goggles such as EyeSeals 4.0 Clear, Onyix silicone shield, EyeSeals 4.0 Charcoal, and similar, don't work for me in this regard...

Hence, I'm desperate for any solution, any! :-(

I'm curious to learn how other members are dealing with this situation and what other alternatives if any have you found to be effective.

On a different note, Rebecca Petris, I remember that you have a very close relationship with the EyeEco's inventor/previous owner, and was wondering whether it would make sense for the Dry Eye Shop to take over the distribution or manufacturing of these Tranquileyes fabric-lined foams and make it available exclusively on the Dry Eye Shop or Amazon?

I truly hope, Rebecca, that you can work out a reasonable solution with the previous owner.

Otherwise, do you think, Rebecca Petris, it would be a good idea, perhaps to organize a petition in Dry Eyes Forums, requesting PRN, the new owner of EyeEco and resume its Tranquileyes form replacement manufacturing?

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!!!

PRN discontinued the foam replacements a while ago, it's probably been about a year. You can try googling "Tranquileyes replacement foam" and contacting the companies that still have it listed on their site. Sigma Pharma still has it up on their site, but it may not be available: https://www.sigmapharmaceuticals.com...ement-kit.html

PRN's new business model is that you have to buy a new Tranquileyes goggle when you need to replace the foam. Have you tried calling them to ask if they have any foam replacements left you can buy?

Lastly, have you tried the helloblinkjoy.com mask? Not sure if it's right for you, but just wanted to put it out there.

thank you Aidan I did call PRN/EyeEco and was told that I need to buy new tranquileyes every time I need a replacement foam which is insane and predatory in my opinion and would get me to bankruptcy :-( I did search online on Amazon and eBay but I will definitely check the links you provided.

Aidan Here are some updates: Following your suggestion, I contacted Sigma Pharmaceutical and discovered that they only sell to doctors. Additionally, their system does not show the replacement foams in their inventory, and their representative informed me that they can only confirm availability once an order is placed.

Regarding helloblinkjoy.com, the silicone masks/goggles, unfortunately, do not meet my requirements for complete darkness, pressing on my eyes to keep them closed, and a significant level of moisture akin to that of water-soaked foam.

I also called EyeEco/PRN once again, and when pressed, they informed me, that not selling the replacement foams was a corporate decision. Meaning, that they do NOT give a dam about their clients/patients and opt for a predatory strategy. If it was up to me, I would boycott them, refraining from purchasing any of their products, which are sucks regardless.

In my mind, PRN is nothing more than a PRICY marketing scheme by labeling its Omega-3 supplements for Dry Eye and by confusing people and doctors to believe that it’s Triglyceride whereas, in fact, it’s NOT, but Re-Esterified.

Finally, it’s NOT THIRD PARTY TESTED which is a LARGE RED FLAG!!!

In contrast, the brand that I recommended on a separate dedicated post for Omega 3, allows you to review the ACTUAL Analytical Testing Results with its respective certificate based on the lot number marked on the bottom of the container!

        https://www.purealaskaomega.com/traceability/

PRN DE3 does NOT meet all the criteria!!! Not to mention it’s PRICEY!!!

        1) it’s Re-Esterified (stated on the label) and was processed to alcohol-based Omega 3 in one of the production steps which degraded the Onega 3

That means it was initially Esterified which involves heat and ethanol that degrade the Omega 3 fish oil

        2) it’s NOT cold press extracted since it was re-esterified and highly refined! Also, the label would have stated it was a cold press if it was

        3) EPA amount is far greater than DHA by approximately 3 times whereas DHA should be higher than EPA

        4) it contains natural flavor where you want no addition of any additives or flavors

        5) it was NOT tested by a third party which is a HUGE RED FLAG!!!

        6) and many more...

I also would like to know where I can purchase these. I had purchased a lot of them via the site and Amazon and didn't change as often as recommend but still use and need the tranquil eyes every night to help my dry eye. Now I'm down to 4 left and have conjunctivitis in one eye so I wanted to buy more only to see they may not be available. It costs $44 to buy a new goggle and I can't afford to do that each time I need to change the foam. This is insane. I can only see them at this site now and it say not available.

            https://sigmapharmaceuticals.com/tra...ement-kit.html

I used to get a huge amount for a bulk discount.

At some point I tried the silicone ones they had recommended but they were terrible, didn't help the dry eye and made my skin sting and get red etc.

I'm still suffering with this condition since about 2006-7 now. It got a little better after type 1 diabetes diagnosis and being put on insulin during dka. But then it got worse again and my eye doc put me on restasis which has helped me tremendously. I have tears again. But I still need the tranquil eyes.

Please tell me where to get them. I don't change them tat much so can space it out if I can get some replacements somewhere.

Why would they do this? Just for money? That is awful.

I'm not sure why this says I joined in 2016. I think I joined before then as my dry eye started in 2006-7. I used to go to one of the dry eye docs in NYC too until after my dka when I had permanent vision damage and need rx glasses etc.

by the way, you can only purchase them if you are a doc apparently? This is insane.. why would they do this when they know we depend on them, those of use who have severe dry can't live without them. I can't find them anywhere else.

elliemee yes its unfortunately about the foams. It's been a couple years now actually since PRN purchased Eye Eco so I don't think there has been any stock left for quite some time. Sigma is a distributor to doctors, but all of the Eye Eco products that are still being produced can be purchased by consumers at prnvision.com/pages/eyeeco.

If you need an alternative to Tranquileyes, the main ones now are Eyeseals 4.0, Quartz silicone shields (and it sounds as though you've tried at least one of these), and also Blinkjoy. I think Blinkjoy is a great product, it's pretty durable, they have two 'generations' of it and for the most part it shouldn't need replacement parts with any frequency, so it may be worth looking into . These things usually have a return policy for people who try it without success.

I'm also going to suggest checking out the Night time suggestions on pages 44, 56 and 57 of our handbook:

                    Thanks Rebecca,

I was looking at the blinkjoy on amazon and may try those and looked at others. I'm not sure about the silicone because it caused irritation last time and was uncomfortable and didn't keep my eyes moist. It's really the foam that keeps the moisture in etc. because it's moist when you sleep. I guess I can try one of the other silicon ones again and see what happens.

I wonder if I can buy some of that foam and make the pads myself? Does anyone know what type of foam it is? I don't remember ever reading about that before. I got the ones with just the foam not the nylon cover or whatever it was.

I found that page but they don't have the foam replacements. So crazy, I'm so upset. I was looking for hours to find them or something and should have been sleeping because I'm so worried about this.

I wonder if I can use those cotton wipe pads instead, wet them etc. and put them in the goggles too or if that will not work.

I'm pretty much dependent on the tranquil eyes now for years... sometimes I fall asleep with my glasses on and then find my eyes are dry and even if I wake up and put the tranquil eyes on my eyes are moist after only a little more sleep. I wake up frequently due to all my health issues.

I will read the other night time stuff too.

My eyes are so much better now with the restasis and the tranquil eyes that I rarely use the freshkote now but I do still get that but much less. Thank goodness that is still available as that is the only moisture drop that worked for me at all through all of this. I remember I used to wear motorcycle goggles too but now I can't find any that would go over my glasses which I have to wear all the time now. I tried contacts and found that it helped because it covers my eye. But the first time one got stuck in my eye, or so I thought, and I scratched my eye trying to get it out after it had already fallen out and went to the er.

I tried again recently but found out from the doc then that I had a hemorrhage in my right eye, so delayed it because they were also causing some irritation. The hemorrage healed but now with this infection in my left eye I will have to wait again. Also I could not see as well, due to the middle and close focus not being great. I didn't try all of the different sample lenses yet they gave me, they are multi focus and one was for dry eye, I have to try that one but can't again now until the infection is gone. I'm using antibiotic and steroid drops 3x a day and antibiotic and steroid ointment 2 x a day.

So I would have to get rx reading glasses which are progressive but only have close focus on the bottom for when I wear contacts.

I wanted to try the contacts again just to be able to have a break from the glasses sometimes. They block my peripheral view and were causing big sores/irritation on my nose and the costco people couldn't seem to get them to fit properly. But that has improved a lot now. But they constantly fall off my nose etc. sometimes if I look down. I get the lightest possible frames because the other ones give me a headache etc.

Has anyone tried the newer drops such as Miebo? I see they cost a fortune too as usual. I never tried anything except restasis which has supposedly gone generic now except it still says restasis on it which is odd. It works so well mostly that I don't see a point in changing but it would be interesting to sample the others. When I first used restasis they gave me steroid drops to use first to get me adjusted to it and then it was ok. Occasionally I will have a bit of irritation when my eyes flare up with the inflammation etc. One doc at my new doc said he thinks my dry eye is autoimmune related and thought the restasis would help me. Although I don't have sjorgens etc.

I will come back and update about the pads and what I try and if I can find anything better. You would think that with how many people suffer with this they would have come up with other options with foam pads etc. by now.

Nothing new there.. I just do restasis and the tranquil eyes, fresh kote rx free now only when needed... the tranquil eyes with foam are the only thing that helps me... I can't be the only one who really needs the foam to provide moisture while sleeping.

The ointments all make me worse... even the drops and ointments for my infected eye are causing irritation in both my eyes sadly.

Fortunately I still have now the new foam pad I put on last night and 2 left. I guess I will have to pay a fortune to buy a new goggle every 2-3 months now which is how often I change it usually. but I was spending around $130 for a years worth of foam replacements in the past I think anyway.

I wash them ever day. I'm going to try some cosmetic non latex foams and see if I can tolerate them and see if they will work with the tranquil eyes goggles etc. They are also the most comfortable one because they are thin and don't press on my nose. I have sinus issues and I don't like a large goggle on that area and would not be able to use tape on my eyes etc. due to irritations and pressure. I tried those nose tapes once for sinus issues and I couldn't breath with them on so got a refund immediately.
