    • Hi Everyone

I found this site through postings in a couple of Sjogrens syndrome boards in facebook. Yes I have that disease. I have tried numerous drops and gels and lacriserts. I have been nagging my optometrist and opthalmologist for help as i cannot place the lacriserts in my eyes due to joint problems. So i hope i can get some help here with different ideas and other ointments that i may not have tried yet. Its hard to study with this and adding migraines to it. Anyway nice to meet all of you

      • Hi Rebecca, I have battled wet eyes for most of my life. It came a little late, but in July I found this message board by typing in "dry eye syndrome" in my web browser and with a few clicks, I found this site that actually was very helpful. I say "a little late" because I had been frantic the months leading up to June 2013 when I wanted more than anything to have dry eyes, except for the joyful tears that would naturally come to my eyes during that time of emotional good times. By pure prayer and nothing else, I had somewhat drier eyes than usual, but it wasn't 100% "normal" eyes like most others.
So, in July when I found this site, I read much and had a new hope for control of my eyes more-so than I had ever felt. Tips and over the counter gels/lubricants were tested and I have found my own "success." I have more dry eyes than wet ones....but still so random when I truly hope for dry eyes. Like, going a full week+ w/o the wet eyes, but then on Thanksgiving Day I couldn't stop the irritation from beginning early in the day.

Anyway, I am much happier with the clearer eyes. I look people in the face finally. I can put eye makeup on and trust that it is still there throughout the day on BOTH eyes and not washed away from one of them.

I still don't know if I will seek medical experts again. The last time (in 2000 for 18 months) proved no success....you've heard all the trial and errors from others here.

I am thankful for this site. It is the beginning of seeing through fresh eyes....I am still silly about my recent trick and share with everyone that knows my battle for most of my life.

I found Genteal eye gel. I have gone through most of this tube w/o real success but at least some comfort. I had been also using a nighttime lubricant, sometimes using it in the days that I didn't have to work, etc. No real success, just comfort on the eye after a long day of irritation. A couple weeks ago I simply finger-applied the lighter eye gel (Genteal) directly onto the lower interior eye-lid (gently pulling down the bottom lid) and spread the single droplet on my finger along the interior bottom lid. I closed my eyes and rolled my eyes under the lids. It seemed IMMEDIATE that I had success! My short walk from front door to car door tends to begin the onset of tears......BUT NOT THAT DAY! I still didn't hold onto it as success until I got through the full day, and then the next, and the next....w/out wet eyes!

I smile as I walk to my car now. It's such a feeling of feeling free. I can't explain it.

Thank you for this site. I related to most of you and your stories. I hope mine is helpful to many of you. Good luck! Rena

          • I am new to DryEye Talk and to the problem itself. Still learning about my diagnosis and trying to find answers and help to the problems I have. I simply googled dry eye after an eye doctor gave me the diagnosis and found the site.

                              • Hi everyone. This is bankerxyz. I am a retired bank manager in my late 60's. I have been reading the information posted for dry eyes. Mine started about 8 years ago and have been steadily getting worse. I have tried the lipiflow and other treatments that helps temporarily but it gets even worse when the treatments are over. I have seen items such as bovine serum and probiotic eye drops that I would like to try but I don't know where to purchase these items. I am in the US and would appreciate any information on these items or any treatments that have helped others. I would like to have Lasik surgery but I am afraid it will make my eyes even worse. I had a test for Sjogrens but they couldn't tell me yes or no on the results.
