  • I was to searching for info on dry eyes and how this can effect our everyday lives. Not only was I diagnosed with DES, but as a result I started to develop styes on both eyelids which then developed into chalazions which I had removed 2wks ago because of having them more than 8wks. Because of this being a chronic issue, I have to do lid scrubs daily, warm compresses, and take deoxycycline for a month and then the doctor wants to see how I am doing after that. Can anyone relate to this? If so, can you share your story with the rest of us sufferers? Thanks for listening!

    • I found this site while browsing the net for information abut ABMD. It is so helpful, particularly in giving me specific things I can ask my doctor about.

          • Was looking up excessive tears and epiphora. This site was the 9th result on page 1 of a Google search.

            • I found you through a 'dry eye treatment' search on Google before my eye appointment; when I got there, my Ophthalmologist actually suggested dryeyezone.com as a great resource! Love Dr. Holz!

              • Hello to all,

I came across this site while trying to find out information on dry eyes. I am noticing that my dry eyes has worsen since my last visit with my doctor. I wanted to understand what is going on. My doctor was having me put drops in my eyes @ least 4 times a day and I notice that it just drinks it up. So, I just want a better understanding as to what it is, what can happen, etc. I appreciate very much all the information that I have found here. Thank you. =)

                  • Hi

I've never been in a forum or chat room before, so I'm still navigating my way around, but I wanted to say that I've found Dry Eye Talk really helpful since I found it a couple of weeks ago. It makes it so much better to know I'm not the only one with this problem. Hopefully it will be alleviated one day.

                    • Like Maud, I have never been in a forum or chat room before so i'm still trying to figure out how things work, but yes, this site is wonderful. I started having really bad dry eyes, to where I was hardly functioning, when I was in my early 20s (the doctor told me, "Only people in their 70s or 80s get that, and it isn't that bad!"). Not finding relief in a timely manner caused me real depression, but luckily I finally got cautery that pretty much fixed the problem. Thank goodness!!! At that time, maybe around the year 2000? I was searching and searching for some sort of support group, but I guess this forum wasn't started yet. Now, because of a bout of conjunctivitis, my eyes are really messed up again, hence my internet searches for answers. I'm pretty sure I typed in something like "how to deal with severe dry eye pain" and found this site. THANK YOU! Still searching for answers, but I'm glad to know there are other people in the world who walk around the house with goggles on! (I mean I really really wish you didn't have to, but it makes me feel like not as much of a weirdo) I hope we all get relief soon!

                      • I have looked at many dry eye sites over the years to learn what was out there to help me with my "Dry Eye Syndrome" problems. I am so much better than I was years ago, with the help of my corneal specialist, so want to learn/help wherever I can. My condition seems to be due to many different reasons: laser surgery, 2-3 x per eye (long story), job with AC/ fans in eyes continuously, menopause..Am looking forward to being part of this group.

                        • HI Rebecca: I was searching for the guy that made my prescription goggles as I left them in a taxi

Your site came up so I bookmarked it and went on to find the right guy. About a month later I went back to see what other products you had and to recommend your site to another fellow i know who has dry eye.

Then I noticed the forum and YAHOO, the rest is history, it has given me a new lease on life, so many great ideas and new things to try...thank you, thank you thanks you

                          • Have been seeing posts about wearing goggles...would like to know what kind they are. Have been wearing Wiley X sports glasses with the black seal against my face.. I finally got a pair of transition ones that I can wear inside, & wear them almost all of the time, in the house/car/restaurants, etc, wherever there is breeze or dry air, which seems to be everywhere...talk about looking "dorky". Have found that they are a great investment, but would love to know if there was something better looking out there.

                            • Ow! My eye hurts!

Hi. I found you guys by googling Dry Eyes yesterday. I had a place on my eye debrided yesterday. I have extremely dry eyes plus my eyelashes are infected. I'm in extreme pain and just got off the phone with my doctor. He said to keep flushing my eye with thick eye gel, and to come in in the morning if I'm not better. I'm using Refresh eye gel. I really don't think I can take much more. I keep producing tears which seems to be making matters worse . Any suggestions?.

                              • You probably have an infection brought on by using too much gel which could possibly gum up the tear ducts etc. At least that is what happened to me. My doctor put me on steroid drops and after a week, my eyes were better and he told me not to use heavy gummy gels or drops. Now I use Bion tears. Get it checked right away.
