So Ebi, I have a theory about the partial blink. I believe corneal sensation/pain effects your ability to blink. For example, I injured my cornea, and I continue to sleep eyes open partially. What’s interesting is the left eye, for whatever reason, is shutting pretty well. So my cornea in that side feels pretty good, no gritty, sandpaper feeling. So the cornea is much healthier, so is my blink on that side. On my right side, for whatever reason I’m still trying to figure out, my blink is poor. I’d almost call my lid partially paralyzed on the right side. It perpetuates this cycle...the eye doesn’t shut well, the inflammation and pain cause the lid to malfunction, which makes it hard to blink and keep eyes closed at night...vicious cycle.

i have no clue how I broke that cycle in the left eye. It was my worse eye for most of this injury. There’s only two things different...the left eye had a debridement, and I had a 10 day course of moxifloxacin after a few erosions, that’s it. I’m almost tempted to run the antibiotic in the right eye and see if it helps. As I sit here, my left eye feels pretty normal, the right eye feels sore, pressure and burning. I’m going to take them shut again, forever if need be. It’s the only ting helping me heal...and the steroids of course.

i hope you can get on some serum and get some more comfort soon. Doxy only took 3 weeks to work for me and I started producing clear oil from my glands. That’s was 100mg 2x a day monohydrate tablets. I HATE the capsules, they destroy my stomach. The serum felt good immediately but I didn’t notice much until I went up to 50% concentration and that took 4-6 weeks to really see a difference.

I do not know how I missed your comment.

I have ordered tape from dry eye shop but am still waiting to receive them. I ask my doctor to prescribe serum but he said I need an Ophthalmologist to prescribe that.

Does this serum has any side effect? Not that I care that much at this stage.

If the serum is prepared right, no side effects except pure bliss when inserted into your eye. Plus, you’re not going to be allergic to these drops...that’s why I use them 12+ times a day. They just feel sooooo good...keep pushing for them.

      • Hi phenix01 I'm also from Canada thinking of getting probing done. What's the name of the doctor that did your probing? Would you recommend him/ her? Did it hurt?

        • @ebi1368 @Hokucat @phenix01 I'm quite reluctant on getting the probing procedure done, but from your stories it seems like the pros outweigh the cons. Are there any changes in the actual physical appearance of the eye/ eyelid? Asymmetry or droopier lid?

Hi, the procedure doesnt hurt. Eyelids look no different. I am not sure what are the cons. Will PM you the Dr.

              • I’ve had probing several times, by two different doctors, and I found the procedure VERY uncomfortable. One of my doctors even gave me numbing shots to help with the discomfort, which did help some, but those shots were just as uncomfortable, and they have to give several shots around each eye. Perhaps I experienced more discomfort than phenix01 because I also had gland expression as part of the procedure, and also many glands with stubborn scar tissue, so more force was needed. Phenix01, you were fortunate, or have a high tolerance for pain :-)

The probings did not cause any negative changes to the physical appearance of my eyes. However, not a lot is known about the impact to the glands in the long run, such as probing itself causing more scar tissue, damaging the gland structure, etc. Because of this, even though probing was ultimately a key step in my probing+diet change+sclerals resolution, I’d still recommend doing less invasive procedures first, and if those don’t work to open glands, then try probing. Unless your eye doctor is able to tell right off the bat you have scar tissue...then only probing can unblock that.

                • I found the probing itself very tolerable, it stings a bit at time but only mildly. The expression after can be painful but usually doesnt last long. That's only my experience though.

                  • BAD NEWS.

I saw a dry eye specialist today, trying to find why mty eyes feel burning although 2 weeks after probing my eyes were awesome.

So I get enough aqueous tears but my meobomian glands barely send oil ot my eyes. My eyelids are inflamed and for the first time I got diagnosed with rosacea on my lids. I dont have rosacea on my face, but apparently my lids do, so I got this chronic condition of rosacea on the lids which continuously trigger lid inflammation, which prveent oil glands from functioning properly.

Dr mentioned IPL which could help but it is still not available in Canada. I feel back to square 1, this is depressing.

I am living in Canada and had IPL on Saturday. Which city are you lining in?
                      I am in Calgary

I clearly have rosacea as I also have rashes on my face.
They told me I will not see any improvement until the second or third IPL treatment, if I am going to see any at all.

The expression after IPL is tough. You may need to rest a few days. Saturday was the worse but I still feel that I do not have any tears in my eyes. My gland were like toothpaste. Whenever the doctors do expression my gland are like toothpaste.

I have darker skin and they told me I might not see much benefit from IPL as others with light skin. Depending on your skin color they can increase the intensity of IPL.

                              Have you tried serum drop?
I got prescription for serum drop. You should try that too.

IPL and serum are my last hopes to get better.
