The bad smell is of Ghee.So no matter where u buy from, ghee will taste and smell same.Unless it comes in flavored form.

If smell stays on hand longer, u can wash hands with lemon to get rid of the smell and particularly the stickiness of ghee.
Really need to be a ROCK to take the pain!

        Subashli,

I would like to know if you have tried tarpanam doing it yourself. I'm willing to try it but i have some doubts. Can it be made with Triphala Ghrit, ok? Is it just melted hot/warm Triphala? Is it mixed with water?

I started using Netraritam eye drop yesterday and i loved it! It is the first eye drop i have tried that makes my eyes feel better. Like i have read on the internet, it is specially good for computer strains. I think i will open a thread about it in some days.

        thanks!

A fellow member of this forum asked me some questions. I thought my answers to those questions might be helpful to some of you guys ..... that's why posting here. Answers are in Blue.

          1. Did you have a strong perscription? What was it before lasik? ..... No, before lasik around -2 in both eyes. After lasik 20/20. I had dry eyes before lasik, but it worsened after lasik.

          2. Did your plugs help you? How much did it improve? .... Yes, quite a bit atleast 50% better.

          3. Have you tried moisture chamber goggles? .... No

          4. Have you tried a product called Theralife Eye Enhannced. It is the only thing I have found that makes a big difference. Unfortunatley I seem to be the only one that it causes anxiety so I can't use it anymore. ...... No. but looks like an interesting product.

          5. Has your dry eye affected your vision? Do you have to wear glasses or contacts? ..... No vision probs. No glasses or contacts.

          6. Do you still work as a software programmer? ... Yes

          7. How much of a difference to Celluvisc make in dealing with your dry eye? .... A lot, I would say it worked the best among all drops .... atleast to me.

          8. What have been the top three best things you've found?
I had lasik more than 3 1/2 years ago but discovered many things very late ..... as late as just 4 months ago, I discovered Triphala Ghrita. I always feel that had I discovered or done all these 3 things (see below) long ago, may be immediately after surgery. I would not have had the suffering.
          1. Plugs
          2. Celluvisc
          3. Triphala Ghritam

Thanks to God and because of the above 3 .... I am almost normal now.

          Thanks,
          Subashli

                150g i think will last for about 15 to 22 days, taking 2 to 4 teaspoons/day.

Netramritam eye drops can be purchased at the same site and it is really helping me!

I couldn't find the Grita but finally found Triphala Extract capsules and started taking them. I searched all the indian groceries nearby and they didnt have the Triphala Grita, but finally went to "The Vitamin Shop" and they had 3 brands of capsules. 2 days in my eyes have been much more comfortable than normal, I've had a huge increase in eye dandruff, but my eyes are still really red.

Heres the thread documenting my experience:

                    Hi Subashli!
I got very excited when I saw your post. I've been suffering from severe dry eyes for a year and a half having tried everything from tears (systanne, Refresh Optive Sensitive, Vis Med, etc.etc to having both lower and upper punctae blocked with permanent plugs and autologus serum drops with hardly any positive effects. I ordered Triphala Ghrit online from a site called ExoticIndia and took it for three days both with warm milk and water and I have to say I gagged everytime - I found the taste almost unbearable. Could it be that I'm taking too large a dose? R u using tablespoons or teaspoons? I m willing to keep trying (I now ordered four more pots from a different site - they cost 15.00 Euros each! (I live in France). I would welcome any suggestions on how to get past the taste!

my update about Triphala Ghritta and Netramritam eye drops

7 days since i started taking Triphala Ghritta and Netramritam eye drops.

I'm taking one teaspoon (or even less) of Triphala when i wake up and one teaspoon (or even less) at evening (both with empty stomach), with hot/warm water.
The first difference i have felt is in my digestive system. Triphala is known as a kind of natural medicine for constipation, but the effect on me was reverse. I'm with a tendency to constipation since i started taking it. It is a strange effect for all i have read about Triphala on the web (maybe i need to take higher doses). About my eyes, i don't know if it is improving my condition, because i started using Netramritam eye drops at the same time.
For the first time since my dry eyes symptons begun (i.e. seven months ago) i'm experiencing an improvement (and yes, i'm very happy about that!). I'm far from being normal but my eyes don't hurt me almost all the time anymore (ok, i live on the coast in a very humid place til next week, and that plays a importante role in my condition not being worse). I still need my Wiley-X at AC or in cities far from coast.
Since the first time i dropped Netramritam in my eyes i have felt it was doing good to my eyes. I'm using it four times/day. But i don't know if my improvent is due only to Netramritam or if Triphala is playing a role either.
I'm happy at the moment and expecting that sooner or later i will be able to open my own thread about a 'triumph story'. I hope it is not just a dream. At least now i know i can get better.
Thanks subashli, Rebecca and all you who share your experiences and knowledge.

                        Beatriz,
May be you are not used to Ghee. Ghrita means Ghee. Most Indians would not have any problem with drinking Ghrita coz they like ghee a lot. Anyways ... you take 2 teaspoons morning and evening. If you are finding it too difficult to drink Triphala Ghrita, then add 1 teaspoon of honey and drink. Good things always taste bad dear .....

What brand of Triphala Ghrita are you using now???

                        God bless you.

                        Bakunin,
Nice to hear that Triphala Ghrita is working a bit for you. I would suggest taking 2 teaspoons of Triphala Ghrita. For me, Triphala Ghrita did not relieve or cause any constipation. No probs related to stomach ....... But if I take just Triphala powder, then I must that I have to rush to bathroom in 1 hour .....

I have not tried Tarpana method yet, but will try some day. Yes, mostly they use Triphala Ghrita for Tarpana. Warm and melted Triphala Ghrita is used. Hot may damage your eyes. So try to be careful if you are doing at home. Water is not mixed with Triphala Ghrita. Some Ayurveda doctors use other oils too apart from Triphala Ghrita to perform Tarpana.

I think I posted Tarpana videos or pictures somewhere in this thread or in my previous threads.

                        God bless you.

                        Thanks,
                        Subashli

Has anyone else noticed a large increase in eye dandruff when you wake up after starting using triphala? I'm unsure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but my eyes have been really comfortable since I started taking it, so I assume it's related to it stimulating more tear flow.

I'm also thinking about getting some ghee and trying the tarpana, just breaking open my triphala capsules and mixing it with the ghee. I'll research the ingrediants myself but wondering if any of you see a problem with this based on the ingredients in my triphala capsules: phillanthus emblica, terminalia chebula, terminalia bellerica, vegetable cellulose, magnesium stearate, silica

                            Steve60007,

I and most of us are using Triphala Ghrita. So try using Triphala Ghrita instead of Triphala Capsules. That might solve your dandruff problem. You can buy online, the links to online stores are listed somewhere in this thread.
